I'm getting the feeling that we are not too many days away from an official announcement and/or teaser video for the new GT500 (or Mach1) . . . I don't have any sort of evidence, or a quote to rely on but something is forthcoming soon! With the Detroit Auto Show coming up and details known about the ZL1, I would be very suprised if December ends without something official coming down and hoping it will be for a 750-800 hp TT 5.2 CPC revised coyote with a choice of a MT, or 10-speed AT and AWD . . . A REAL MONSTER FOR THE STREET AND THE TRACK and not just a response to the ZL1 and Hellcat!

Wasn't it December 2013 Ford unveiled the 15 Mustang

I'd like nothing more than a 5.2TTDI CPC V8 with AWD as that would be a hellion of a ride.

That would be absolutely bad ass, but I find it extremely unlikely they build a TT 730+ hp car with AWD. It would end up weighing probably about 4,000+ lbs but you'd be talking about a car that could do 0-60 in like 2.7 or less and 1/4 in like mid-low 10's. It'd be truly an amazing GT car, hopefully they would come mostly loaded with electronics and wrapped leather/alcantara and sport seats that are fully adjustable. Car would probably be very track capable. I'd have to imagine it would start at 75K or more. I'm not a brand loyalist, I'd very much be considering selling my car and getting this!

Hopefully we will see something within a couple of weeks. If it is going to be released at Detroit they should start atleast with some teaser pics soon! I'm sure ready to see it. I already have my name inline at my local dealer!

I hope so, that would be awesome. I'll say this, it seems the mustang guys are way more accepting of an AWD (with presumably RWD bias) version then the camaro and vette guys.

I would prefer AWD but understand it may not happen! When you start talking 700+ hp AWD would really be awesome to put that power down! Would definitely make it stand out from the crowd. Burnouts are nice but forward momentum wins races!!

I'm 100% with you on that. The loyal corvette guys think it would ruin the car! It just so much power now you can't put it down. I have a 650 hp Z06 and living in the pacific nw you can't get traction anywhere except during the middle of summer. So even on beautiful 50-55 degree days though its very dry its just too cold to get any real traction below 3rd gear, which mean your going to be pushing into triple digits and you just can't do that often in the city. I'd really look forward to one of the big 3 having a high HP, AWD car. Plus the new GM/Ford 10 speed looks really good.

Coming from a 700hp Porsche turbo I know the Virtues of it. It's the best of both worlds strait line and curves! If they can do it and keep the weight down with the use of lite weight materials such as carbon fiber! It would be lights out for the Hellcat/Camero!

I've very much considered a 911 turbo/S. I think they'll have to minimize carbon and stuff though otherwise your going to see it cost like 80k+, alot more then a loaded zl1/hellcat. Unless they are trying to target guys like you and me and try and bring us from other car brands. If they can do this and keep the weight around 4000 lb that's going to be a crazy fast car.

Hell if it cost around 80k I would be trilled considering what the GT350 is going for. I can't image them having trouble selling them if they build it like we are talking about in limited #'s . I can't see anything in that price range touching it. The have made a huge investment in carbon technology already! Look at the GT might as well bring it into the GT500. Hopefully not just wishful thinking!!

True, people are paying way over msrp for gt350s, but you can only imagine the gouging by dealers on this. I forgot how much carbon they have on the 350, so it would make sense to use as much of that tech as possible.

Detroit Auto Show is going to be a very nice event, even if they will not be serving any escargots.
Could there be a chance we see something more than the 2018 refresh??
Not asking for specifics I just want to know if it is worth the trip. I dont care to see a refreshed model and would only go if something special shows up.

This has been on the Ford site since the 2014 GT500. You can also find a 2017 Boss 302 in the code too (search for "site:ford.com 2017 boss 302"). There was another thread about the same thing when the 2016 model was new, since you could find the "2016 GT500" at the time.

On the deeper 2017 GT500 pages (specs page, safety page, etc.), the details are the same as the 2014 GT500, and still references the 2014 model year (albeit, the page is titled as 2017 GT500). The same is true for the 2017 Boss 302 pages, which has 2013 Boss 302 references with a 2017 page title.
