uh oh, here comes the fire storm. I will find the thread I created regarding this topic, I decided to go with a different alternative suggested by someone else and it worked out great. There's pics, just give me a minute...

Just want to use this floor jack with a cup on the diff so I can put the rear on stands at the pinch welds.

Here is the pic posted by somebody else, I jacked up at these points one side at a time and set the jack stands at the rear factory pinch weld locations.

Enjoy your new exhaust...

Which is where I'm sure he wants to place the jack stands.

I am sure he will see the pinch welds as they run along the car's underbody and are quite visible. I have used the pinch welds on this vehicle using my Craftsman 3 ton jack and then applying jackstands adjacent to my jacking point near each wheel.

Yeah that can work fine as well, but being in earthquake country and all, I prefer having my jack stands at the widest possible track, and that would be the factory pinch weld jack points.

My two cents is, you don't want to carry load on the pinch weld!!

Its secondary purpose is it is used to register the factory Sissor jack (see photo) so that all the load bears against the reenforced area of the bottom of the floor panel. If you look closely a doubler plate is spot welded to the floor panel in the jack area. There are also two holes with threaded inserts, as I believe these hard points were used with a bolt fixture during assembly of the car.

Thats my theory at the moment. I need to crawl under the car again tomorrow and get a better picture than I already have.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned getting some jacking rails.

I would get some jacking rails. :)

First mod for me was the Steeda Jacking Rails. First time I have "worked" on a car in 25 years maybe so I wanted to start simple and get some success under my belt.

Jacking rails... Can't preach them enough. They will change your life, and how much you work on your car.

I am not telling anyone to do it but its been working for me with no issues. I use a piece of carpet and a wooden block on the jacking surface.
