I have just spent an hour trying to dry the car. There is no way I was able to dry using a leaf blower without leaving water marks. What am I doing wrong? I am using a fairly powerful Stihl gas leaf blower. As the water is moving in the direction the blower blows air, it dries and leaves terrible marks (much worse than circular spots if I were to simply not dry the car after washing) that are several inches long.

Don't you have a air compressor !After i'm done drying mine with a water magnet towel, i use compressed air in every cracks and crevaces and finish it off with my towel. No water spots whatsoever.

Are you washing you car in full sunlight !

Does that mean we're closer to seeing new evidence of you GT350 out in daylight ?

The thing is, I dont want to use a towel. I guess there is no way to properly dry a car without leaving any spots whatsoever using a leaf blower?

Where I live is usually windy and there will always be dust/sand etc getting on to the wet car. Regardless of how careful I am with the towel, I will always leave swirl marks (what happened in my other cars even though I am very OCD).

Here's my tip, once you're finished washing the car, immediately bring it in the garage and detail it there using compressed air. That's what i do.

I dont have compressed air, but maybe I should look into getting a compressor. What do you recommend?

Can't use a gas powered leaf blower. Have to use compressed air or a battery powered leaf blower for it to dry properly.

I understand the compressed air due to the velocity of the air and the size being more appropriate. However, you are saying battery powered leaf blower is better than gas one? I'm confused. Can you elaborate?

Lots of choices out there, mine is an oil free 5HP , 25 Gallon Devilbiss which i got at Costco a while ago. 20 years and still going on strong and trouble free.

If you are blowing the car completely dry you MUST rinse it with deionized water.

I don't think that's a very good idea.

Air blows water out of cracks and crevices. Said water is not clean. So you end up rubbing the dirt into the paint with a towel. With the blower, that dirt gets blasted off with the water or is harmlessly left behind on the surface. Harmless unless you drag a towel over it.

I have an 8 HP heated air dryer and the hose ends concentrate the blast well enough to not leave any water. I don't always use the dryer, and in fact use it more when I am in a hurry. Not because it speeds up drying so much but eliminates the possibility of dragging dirt across the paint if any is left by a quicky hand wash.
