Hey gang

So for a year and a half, I've been trying to decide if I want to do anything to my exhaust. Fact is, I'm pretty happy with the stock exhaust - but I think I'd be happier if it was, like, 10% louder. But I've refrained from sinking bucks into exhaust because the variation in options is so huge. And frankly, I don't want a raspy, noisy exhaust. I'd like a low-throated rumbling gurgle, like classic 60s V8s.

Some time ago, it was offered to me by a member here that what I might want is a resonator delete. I finally had the opportunity to hear one briefly yesterday, and it sounded like the 10% I have been looking for. However, I did not have the opportunity to listen for long, or while it was actually being driven.

So - from those that have done so, can you give me your longer-term impressions of a resonator delete - and what you used, x-pipe or h-pipe. Are you happy with it? Is there any drone? What does it alter in the exhaust note? What are your impressions at various speeds and other conditions? How much is the change in volume?

I've researched this topic on this board to death. Things like this are impossible to discern listening to Youtube videos, as much as I appreciate the effort that folks have put into making the videos. So I'm looking for opinions.

Much appreciated if you resonator delete folks could chime in.

Cheers

There's always a muffler delete as an option as well.

I was the same as you, just wanted something a little louder. I got the "aluminized steel" CJ Pony Parts H pipe on sale. It is probably 20% louder-- especially at cold start and higher RPMs. I have gotten numerous compliments. I do not notice any drone. I am very happy with it. I went with H pipe because the sound is deeper and more muscle car like.

Muffler delete drones and is much louder than 10%. Resonater delete shouldn't drone at all while increase volume 10-20%.

H pipe should sound deeper. x pipe more raspy.

Jones exhaust resonated Xpipe MF2468 will make a nice replacement for the stock resonator . Remove the "factory connect" bottleneck while you are at it .

I did it first. It's probably closer to 20%, but it's very tame and you only hear it when you get on it. I did an X-pipe. It sounds good at part throttle and WOT except at higher rpm. The stock mufflers get very tinny and raspy. Cruising is the same as stock. Idle is a tad bit louder but unnoticeable with the windows up.

H pipe will sound the best with stock mufflers in my honest opinion. X pipe with the cambered mufflers is tinny and raspy at wide open.

As others have said, perfect addition, roughly 20% more volume. I went X pipe and its a bit raspy, but mostly It's fantastic. I'm not often outside my car when i'm driving ;)

I just installed the mf2469 on my vehicle. Needed to quite down my full ARH. Sounds really good with it installed - much deeper than without.

An X-Pipe is gonna be louder than an H because it has better airflow. As such, X's have a higher-pitched sound at WOT, like a NASCAR scream. H-pipes though, produce the baffled sound pattern that mimics old school muscle car rumble, which seems to be what you're looking for.

And btw, the low rpm raspyness you're talking about isn't that different between X and H-pipes expecially on stock mufflers. X's have slightly more rasp at low rpms, mostly when shifting, but that goes away quickly and just sounds like pure sex in the upper band. Daltron had some good videos showcasing the two pipes somewhere on this board.

I recently installed an MRT H-Pipe from CJ pony parts, keeping the stock mufflers. Its exactly what I wanted. It is not really louder at idle or at cruising speeds 65-70 MPH. No Drone. However, when you get into it has a great sound. I recommend it!
