For me, the best option is still an external pump. I want to be able to turn the pump on and off.Well, I'm guessing the best option is to upgrade if you manage to grenade the standard gearbox. After driving the car in a spirited fashion this Summer, I'm not really concerned at all. If I track it, I'll wait for Fall.
I'm still holding out hope that Ford / Ford Performance will help the tech/base owners in some way that isn't apparent yet. I feel my car needs a transmission and rear diff oil cooler to run on the track. The transmission replacement really isn't necessary and would be the high buck option. Hopefully by next spring there will be a better and more affordable option.
I have to say I am very disappointed in Ford and Ford Performance right now. It would be a lot better if they would tell us exactly what they are planning to do. However I feel they could be playing a waiting game. Some people will sell, some people will install their own solution, some people will pay big bucks to have their local dealer install whatever is available now.. Then by the time the final information and solution comes out, Ford / Ford Performance will have something decent to offer the small number of 2016 owners that still need help.
Is that a special deal because you buy a lot of parts from them or is that the normal price of the OEM transmission? If the transmission is that much cheaper just under a different part number - that's pretty crappy. That's interesting because I can buy the Shelby Trans with oil pump from my local Ford Dealer for about $3625. Now there is a $1000 Core charge that may or may not be refundable with a non oil pump Trans but the OEM one is #FR3Z7003D
