GT350 FORScan Tweaks

I had a good friend over for a big family dinner and after everyone left he started talking about some changes he made to his new F150. He downloaded a program called "Forscan" and purchased a Bluetooth plug-in device that allowed linking a laptop/Forscan to the various control modules in the vehicle. Now he can turn his radio on without the vehicle being powered up, run fogs with high beams, shut off various chimes and horn beeps, etc. Basically, it was all stuff he was originally told that only a dealer could do or somebody with Ford IDS hardware, along with a commensurate VIN to make any changes. Anyway, he heard me complain about a couple of items and said that he brought everything with him if I'd like to take a look at my GT350.

So we jump in the car, plug in the Bluetooth device, and power up his laptop.

After cycling through all the modules, as built or otherwise, I found mention of a "Track Key" buried and listed as being disabled. So it looks as though things are in place for the upcoming Ford Racing offering. Note - I did not click to "enable" but I sure wanted to!

One of the things I wanted to eliminate was the seat belt chime for both the driver and passenger belts. After finding it, we were able to click on the corresponding prompts and disable them. The process goes as shown in the next series of photos...

Same procedure for passenger side. The other thing I wanted to change was the annoying double horn honk you get if the car is running and you step outside of the vehicle. Drove me nuts. Anyhow, we couldn't find an entry for it so we manually entered in the appropriate values that Ford uses for the F150. I found them on this chart, and the "double horn honk disable" correlates to the numbers 726-41-02. The three columns of numbers that follow are the ones I used to change in the GT350...

The same 726-41-02 numbers came up on the screen in Forscan so we entered in the appropriate data in each field for the GT350.

Just like that, no more horn honks when exiting a running car. I found a listing for the sound being piped in as well as this one for those that aren't very good at toilet etiquette...

EDITED TO ADD mattlqx's Module Address spreadsheet (thanks Matt!) link.

Did you look to see if you could make the sport mode exhaust the default setting at start up?

I can't believe I didn't even consider looking for that one! Next time I see him I'll take another look and see what I can find.

I wonder if it could be used to keep the valves from automatically opening under WOT. That would solve a lot of people's problems at tracks that have sound restrictions.

This is the Ford equivalent of VAGCOM for messing with the configuration of CAN modules.

It's great to know you can disable the horn honk. That's the most annoying feature ever. Like I can't tell that my big honking V8 is still running.

Ford blame ford for the horn honking. Blame the stupid Americans that will die from leaving their car running in the garage.

I've been using the OBDLink LX modules for my cars for a few years now. I didn't realize you could do some of that cool stuff with the MX versions.

Rear Defrost and Rear Diff Temp??

Whats the name of the sound pipe module/functionality, and was it enabled or disabled?

Looking for a stock GT350R exhaust. A stock GT350 w or w/o resonator delete would possibly do.

Are you talking about the interior exhaust sound speaker? That might be cool to disable at least to see what it is doing to the exhaust sound.

How about a setting to monitor Trans temp? If you already have it (track or R), is there a setting to turn it off? Conversely, if you have a base/tech, can you turn it on?
