Don't worry about it. S550 ownership isn't a requirement for membership. Just remember there are a lot of fragile egos around here just like over on the C_____6 forums. The two communities are so similar it's funny. I can't help but grin every time someone here gives an example of something negative "those guys" do on "the other forum" that we would never do here...when it happens here all the time too.
This. So many people put their worth in what car they drive. I am currently driving my 2001 Suburban, grinning ear to ear with no car payment

I liked my '07 GT500 (and mine was a vert), but I love my '15 GT. Twice the car all around.

Different strokes....
I don't doubt this one bit. The GT500 feels very old school. Even stock, the power comes on in an unfriendly manner...and you can feel every lb of that cast iron block when you push it through corners. Even with more power than a GT, it's a harder car to launch and drive hard.

It was a monster at the time but in 2015, even 500hp in a ~4000lb car isn't that impressive. The tuning potential is through the roof though.

That said, the GT500 feels really special...and it was the car my pops wanted. He's thrilled with it and he hammers on it every time he drives it! As an old time muscle car guy, he doesn't really care about the handling...but I'm pushing him to consider some shocks/springs/etc to make it feel more planted.

Mod the suspension on it, then pulley and tune it. ;)

100% agreed. It will never handle like an S550...but it sure could handle a lot better. As it currently sits, the suspension is just great for highway cruising and that's about it.

It still goes pretty good and sounds mean as hell through the Supersnake exhaust...WAY better than any Coyote (thanks to the firing order??)

Anyway, a S550 vs. old GT500 discussion should probably be in another thread. :)

Since when is 20 hp "a lot more powerful"? lol Imho they're the same car. The Camaro is just uglier, smaller, pricier and according to sales statistics, not as popular. So stock for stock it outperforms the 5.0, remedy that with aftermarket parts with the money you saved, problem solved.

It's not just the 20hp. It's the 20hp, the 55 lbs of torque, the very fast shifting A8, and the lighter weight. Drive one back to back with a GT, and you will feel a difference.

Or buy a Mustang and with the saved money and mod.

Or choose the car that had the best modding potential without opening the engine... Hands down the Mustang.
