The 5.0 was in the works before the Camaro returned.
Lets see
the Challenger retuned in 2008

the Camaro returned in 2009 with a 2010 model

the 5.0 returned in 2010 with the 2011 Model

So, I think Ford knew about the increasing competition from Camaro and Challenger when they had to start making a new engine. Without the competition the engine could have been all about MPG over MPH.

The Coyote was conceived in 2007 and had release candidates in 2009. As far as design and engineering, that is two stumbles away from utter insanity. Ford also admitted that they were super rushed. It worked though. However 6 years later, like many platforms, the Coyote is starting to feel a bit long in the tooth.

An the Camaro was unveiled in Detroit in 2006 with rumors prior to that. So it goes to say that competition improved the Mustang.

You are forgetting the F150 also had a play in the 5.0. Not just the mustang.

I NEVER want any performance coupe to be canceled if it can be helped. The choice, competition, and technological advancements are too great.

Can you guys imagine in 30 years when every manufactured will be under one roof. They'll sell one 'type' of vehicle for everyone. Suv (big, med, compact) cars the same , trucks the same , and probably one sport coupe.

For now I'm loving all the choices and want more!! Never want ill fate on any manufacturer.

Some of you guys are hilarious lmao. You do realize that GM is the reason we have magneride on our gt350s. It even uses the same control module. And for the guy who said a procharged gt350 will beat the ZL1, whoopty f@#$*n do, an ecoboost with a turbo upgrade can beat a gt350, your point is irrelevant.some of the stuff I've read in this thread is borderline retarded lol. I don't really understand the point of this thread anyway. For one just because the ZL1 is faster than the 350 means nothing. And just because the gt500 MAY BE faster than the ZL1 means nothing. Ford is making some awesome performance cars (they also make a handful of shitty cars). GM is making awesome performance cars(they also make some shitty cars) just because you own a ford doesn't mean gm sucks. Be happy with your car and appreciate the level of engineering that goes into these cars to make a better experience for US. Most of you guys are weekend drivers who will NEVER drive on a road course anyway, so what's it matter how fast the damn car is if all you do is wash and wax and red light race.
J_Maher_AMG I'm with you man, i love reading your comments cause they actually make sense! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY 350 and I wouldn't trade it for anything (well maybe a gt3 rs lol) but I respect what these automakers are bringing to the table
Ban Hammer, rational posting on the internet does not compute, especially when the Fanboys chime in. :D I realized a long time ago, yes I'm an old fart, that I drive what I like be it Miaters, Mcars, GT3's, Boss 302, and even a 06 Civic Si TT car. 99.9 % will not drive the GT350 close to its potential. ;)

Congrats to GM for building a Camaro that performs as well as the 4 model-year old, 5th Generation, SRA GT500.
The 5th gen ZL1 beat the GT500 in a majority of head to heads...due to the Cobra's terrible brakes and suspension set up.

I was debating if I should spend time looking that up or just let him live in his own world.

It's amazing how much people can deceive themselves when they really want to believe something.

Or just watch the comparison videos and realize most of them picked the ZL1 as the better overall car.

Well, magazines and videos can put things like "it just feels better" so they can choose whatever car they want. Car Guys pick based on performance data:thumbsup:

Not sure I agree with this. If it wasn't for intangibles like driver feel, vehicle predictability, balance and it was all about hard numbers, the gt350 would have never been chosen in many magazine reviews over more expensive competitors.

The one I remember that Tested the GT350R against much more expensive cars; chose the R because you get most of the performance of the others for half the cost (based on MSRP).

Price is a very measurable stat, because people can only afford what they can afford.

If someone wants a lesser car, go buy a Cheby
Even if they produce a car that is better in some stats.
9 times out of 10 Fords next version beats it again and again.
Makes it good for us car guys, that they compete this hard.
We get better cars at affordable money.

Look what the replacement Shelby gt350 and R has done to
the competition, can you imagine what the new Shelby GT 500 is about to do :)
