Wow. That puts you at '07-'09 GT500 power levels without the supercharger. Nice.

If it's like the Roush warranty it will cover DT failures up to a certain dollar amount in repairs. I'm pretty sure the Roush warranty was up to $7500.

This is a great thing for people afraid to pass on bolt-ons because of a loss of warranty. It'll put the Mustang performance much more in line with the Camaro. And we'll still cost less!

What I am getting from the info provided is 3yr/36,000 warranty on the power packs. The warranty is offered through Ford Racing on the parts installed. Does Ford factory powertrain warranty of 5/60,000 get wiped down to 3/36,000 as well?
Yes and No, after 3/36 Ford would have to prove the Power Pak was the cause of a failure to deny coverage under the 5/60 powertrain warranty. This is the same as with any aftermarket mod.

In other words, yes. If you want to play the "prove it" game, why bother with the powerpacks?

It's not $2,500+ power pack 3 is available for $1,999 and less at supporting vendors here.
I think you're forgetting the cost of installation which is what I GENEROUSLY added to my comment.... You aren't paying less than 5 hours for the stage III package, guaranteed.

Well, isn't the main difference in the Ford approved tune? If you go aftermarket tune, you are pretty much flat our screwed and they don't really have to 'prove' anything. With the Ford tune, that is approved so you are not already screwed and they would then have to prove the part and not the tune caused the failure.

Isn't that right? Pretty sure manufacturers can outright deny a warranty claim on a aftermarket tune, not the case here.

Lets keep in mind that the only people buying these performance packs from Ford are trying to stay within warranty and/or emission compliant. The article is a little bit misleading as for any of these packs offered, you also need Ford mechanic, or a certified ASE mechanic to install the packs in order to retain the manufacturers warranty. I can't imagine Ford bills anything less than 6 hours for the install.
Whats funny with the ASE cert mechanic is their is no specific ASE cert that is required. You could have a guy who has a cert in "transit bus", from what I've seen Ford doesn't specify.

Interesting.. my dad (the tech) is a master ASE tech so I trust him! I don't know if I'd trust a transit bus guy..

The power packs 1 and 2 sound like the best bet for daily drivers with the big bump in torque down low. I wonder what they will do to fuel economy?

It will likely slightly reduce fuel economy in exchange for higher performance. 91 octane has less energy / gallon than 87 but in a high performance, high compression engine it resists pre-ignition better allowing for more aggressive timing and more power.

Hey guys, not trying to be an a**hole here, but more of a way to help some of you look at this from another purchase angle, if interested. I already have a CAI, I bought a GT350 intake manifold separately, and purchased a tune for it for considerably less money. I didn't buy the 87mm TB mind you, but even if I would've bought it, it still isn't what I paid. It's not getting installed by a Ford dealership, and if the warranty is what you want to keep, okay, that's understandable. I'm getting headers installed also at the same time this coming Monday and going on their dyno. Not saying the FRPP tune is crap, it's just something I wanted to put out there. If any of you want to know more, just pm me.

The 60hp spike is coming on at 6500rpm+. It's not really usable for most street drivers.

someone had this chat with ford... you keep your 5 year unless they trace the fault to be caused by the tune, then you get the 3 year (and the 3 year is from manufacture, not from when you installed the kit)

now, it seems pretty obvious (and shady) that if anything goes wrong they are going to try to blame the tune and diddle you out of warranty, however if they blame the tune (which they wrote) then surely that's admitting that it was THEIR work that ruined your engine, so either way they are admitting liability

it just means you are facing an uphill battle if you need a warranty claim between the 3 and 5 years
