I'm looking forward to what my results will be. I didn't get the FRPP stage 3 kit, but I just dropped mine off at DGR Performance in Dillsburg, Pa., to get the GT350 IM, MMR adapter, Lund tune and Kook's headers installed. Then onto his dyno just to see where it's at. I'd be happy to be in that 495hp flywheel/435hp at the wheels range. And Holy sh*t he had quite a few high hp Mustangs sitting all over the place.

Ford spokesperson Matt Leaver told us via email, but when it comes to the top-tier Power Pack 3, horsepower figures between 475 and 495 ponies would be "a reasonable number at the flywheel."

Just preordered the PP3 so I guess I'll find out in a couple months...

Untrue. There are numerous people doing road course with centris.
Not with the basic $6000 kits ($7500 installed). Need bigger intercooler, oil cooler, radiator, diff cooler to make it work more than a lap or two on a road course.

All the stock supercharged mustangs are know to heat soak very quickly and start losing power on a road course. A low end bolt on system will be worse because it doesn't have the upgraded cooling of something like a GT500. Now spend enough money, anything is possible.

I myself would never road-course a forced induction car that didn't come that way from the factory ... that's too much power (typically 50% more) than what the stock engine was designed for.

There's headroom for some more power built in but not FI type of power.

Ford needs to add the 495hp kit as a upgrade to the GT.. A package like the Performance Package but call it the Performance Package Tech 3 or something like that.. If they build it, it will sell!! Maybe make another Bullitt. Or make it the Mach 1 package.
I would say call it the Mach 1 and they should start selling it in MY 2018 IMO.

So why would Ford not go ahead with that kind of power then? A factory GT with 600 hp. It'd sell like crazy.

So where would you say the "safe" power level is at?

I may go FI in the future so curious on other's experiences.

Because of bean counters. Because it raises their target price. Because they arent trying to take away from the gt350 spotlight either.

800whp is a good safe area. Only a couple people blew up their stuff. And it was from lack of damper upgrade and doing opg, cg with it. You gotta do all three. Those are the weak link. Anything more you would want a built sb for long term durability. But it will handle more for a nice while even unbuilt.
