Ford Says Power Pack 3 Develops 495 HP

Apparently Ford says the new Power Pack 3 (the one with the GT350 air intake and intake manifold) can dial the Mustang GT up to as much as 495 horsepower at flywheel...damn.

$2,500+ for 60BHP just doesn't seem like a great value to me. BUT, it is worth it for people with CARB emissions and you do have the 3yr/36k warranty for ease of mind.

Impressive, but warranty and emissions aside, a centri would be a much better investment yielding far more horsepower per dollar spent. A Paxton or Procharger for between $5-6000 and you're at 700hp+.

Lets keep in mind that the only people buying these performance packs from Ford are trying to stay within warranty and/or emission compliant. The article is a little bit misleading as for any of these packs offered, you also need Ford mechanic, or a certified ASE mechanic to install the packs in order to retain the manufacturers warranty. I can't imagine Ford bills anything less than 6 hours for the install.

The GT350 would be a worthwhile purchase for the magnetorheological suspension alone. Imo it doesn't even need the Voodoo to be worth the money. The Voodoo is awesome though.

I got some time to wait and see if that bit of information holds up. Considering a 15% drivetrain loss that would put you at 420whp. Stock is what 380? So 40 whp gain for $2500 plus install...

If what it offers is even close to true AND you get to keep any type of drive train warranty, it's worth every penny.

Sure, you could get more out of your car for less money elsewhere but you are going to end paying way more than $2500 if your engine shits the bed within that warranty period.

Plus install if you want the warranty, which I would assume PP3 buyers are looking for otherwise they would have bought the IM and tune already.

What I am getting from the info provided is 3yr/36,000 warranty on the power packs. The warranty is offered through Ford Racing on the parts installed. Does Ford factory powertrain warranty of 5/60,000 get wiped down to 3/36,000 as well?
