Do all Ecoboost Mutangs have the Sound Symposer?

I have been searching for an answer to see if the sound symposer is available for all Ecoboost Mustangs.

Is it only available in Premium trims?

Or is it available in Base trim as well?

One of the coolest videos out there: Cobb actually discovered how to activate the symposer without the engine started :)

It is not a sound symposer it is a noise cancelling system. It doesn't make fake engine noises it just cancels out any additional noise you are getting in the cabin.

The Cobb video is just because of the RPM raising with the map switching. The higher the RPM the more aggressive the noise cancellation is. That noise you hear is the harmonic to cancel noise, not an engine noise.

I was about to lose my mind when I saw the title of this thread. Nearly every auto manufacture use sound cancellation generators yet, of course, the Mustang haters say its pumping fake sound into the cabin. :crazy:

I disconnected the mic for mine and it made the MBRP race exhaust 10,000% better. Before it actually was physically painful to be in the car especially at lower RPM's going uphill. With it disconnected the car is almost as quiet as stock inside until you hit wot/4000+ rpm.

I disconnected mine and its noticeably quieter(and better IMO) in the cabin. If I recall correctly it also enhances "desirable" sounds. So it's doing more than just cancelling out sound.

It has both ANC (Active Noise Control) and ESE (Engine Sound Enhancement) per Ford (below).

ANC - 2.3L

ANC is an audio system feature that eliminates a certain range of low frequency engine noise within the passenger compartment typically induced under wide open throttle or heavy part-throttle conditions. The system uses two (coupe) or three (convertible) microphones, a DACMC (contained within the ACM), and the audio system speakers. The DACMC determines the noise frequency to be canceled based upon engine rotation speed data, engine torque data, and accelerator pedal position data from the PCM, as well as microphone input signals.

While the engine is running, the ANC microphones located in the overhead console and center rear of the headliner (coupe), or overhead console, RHR quarter panel, and LHR quarter panel (convertible) monitor the engine noise resonating in the passenger compartment. The microphones transmit this noise as analog signals to the DACMC (contained within the ACM), where they are converted into digital signals by the integrated analog/digital converter. The digital signals are processed and an inverted phase sound wave with the same amplitude as the original sound is created. This new sound is converted into an analog audio signal, transmitted to the DACMC internal tone generator, and output by the ACM to the audio DSP module as fluctuating AC voltage. The audio DSP module sends the signal to the LHF and RHF door woofer speakers, and right and left parcel shelf full-range (without Shaker) or coaxial (with Shaker) speakers (coupe) or RHR and LHR quarter panel full-range (without Shaker) or coaxial (with Shaker) speakers (convertible) as fluctuating AC voltage.

If there is something to be wrong about, thank god it is something I don't care about nor care to lol. I also believe the ESE is effected/disabled once the car starts putting down power and it doesn't have accurate torque data. My car makes over 400whp with the stock intake, downpipe, and catback so it is dead silent and it no longer makes any noises at all regardless if unplugged/plugged.

I unplugged mine as I was hearing too much engine noise or flywheel noise after upgrading to xtreme clutch/fly. Sounds fantastic now. I really enjoy being able to have conversations in the car with myself(I'm the only one that listens to me), and even sometimes my wife and kids. Really helped out with the sound quality as other posters have said.

Its more than just torque data. It also takes into account pedal position and engine rotation speed. If the PCM no longer has an accurate RPM reading, that would be bad, very bad.

You don't hear it because its not very loud to begin with and you're more likely to hear road/wind noise than the super subtle ESE.

Where does it unplug ? I would like to see if I notice any difference now I have an aftermarket exhaust
