So a buddy of mine just bought a chevy SS. Its a 4dr sedan with the LS3 engine in it. I think its like 413HP which you wouldnt expect from a first glance at it. Anyone have any match ups or experience with these. I didnt know a lot about them until he bought it.

A heck of a performance sedan. Numbers similar to GT's stock for stock.

It is basically a Holden / Pontiac G8

I have driven the SS often as my Chevy dealer was trying to get me to buy the one they had on their lot forever. But I ended up buying a Mustang because I just wanted a Mustang. Frankly, for my life, the Chevy SS was the better option.

It seems like an ultimate sleeper - that can be had with stick, magnetic shocks and it does have 4 doors and easily hauls family. I thought hard about it, especially with the discounts that you can typically get from Chevy. Only problem I see is that Chevy - if I am not mistaken - is quitting production over on Australia...

My good friend ordered one with a 6-speed manual. He added the Holden bits to it. It gets a lot of "what is it" questions all the time.

Chevy isn't stopping production, but Holden and Ford AU are both going away entirely, so Australia won't have Holden and Ford anchoring car production in their country.

They're quick and it's always nice hearing a loud, mean V8 come from a family sedan but for the looks of the car itself. It's so bland and boring looking that I wouldn't be able to own it.

Good friend of mine has one. He is a manager at a local Chevrolet dealer - and has actually had it for quite some time. Already has about 60K miles on it. lol

He took it to the track and I believe he went 13.2@109-111 range on all his passes.

They put up very similar times to the 5th gen Camaros. If you do ok against those. You'll do ok against the SS.

Good friend has one. There pretty much the same thing as a G8 but better. Way better interior and LS3 in standard instead of only coming in the G8 GXP.

His is far from stock, cam, headers, etc. He just ordered a procharger.

I like them, but man like most chevys there just so bland.

If they put the LSA motor in the last model year. I might look into one though. That would be awesome.

Had a GXP (LS3 & 6-spd manual) and loved it ... but the Mustang GT is faster in my opinion as that Zeta platform was heavy.

Basically a 4-dr Camaro SS.
