With all the talk about the 1LE being a better performer than the Mustang, I found these Car and Driver apples to apples lightning lap times to be pretty interesting...
damn it man, we're trying to push a narrative here!

What's the gt350 non R time?? Don't cherry pick

The 1LE, PP2, and 350 are all super close.
I’m not cherry picking. If you read the link I posted you’ll see they didn’t run a non-R at Lightning Lap. I think two Mustangs and a Camaro, all with manual transmissions, is a pretty objective comparison. And yeah, they are all super close, that was the point of my post.

2017 1LE: 2:54.8
2018 PP2: 2:53.8
2016 GT350R: 2:51.8

Interesting to see how the Supra and M2 Comp finished so far behind the 2018 PP2 Mustang, and even stranger to see the 2015 GT finish so far back in the pack. Booked marked that one.

What is the difference between a PP1 and PPT other than the tires and stiffer springs/shocks? Is it like the M cars that have completely different control arms, bushings, bracing, components etc? I was always impressed with the difference in the chassis and suspension components on my M3 as compared to my wifes 3 Series Wagons.

I really like the PP1.

They are not super close the 1LE is the slowest of the bunch, compared to the R by a lot. No idea about the base GT350 but the 19+ models are said to be about a second slower than the R. Similar results with MotorTrend testing.

Yeah it's a great reference, there aren't many places to find lap time summaries from the same track and same testing organization like this.

Hmmm, let's just say Mustang, lol. Sounds like the Mustang driver stopped first, and the Camaro kept going, tried to evade by killing lights, etc. Back in the day we had a switch on the ground wires that would kill brake and tail lights in similar situations.

I just bought a 2021 Mustang GT A10 last month and came from a 2020 Camaro V6. Of course hands down in terms of power nothing can compare with the V8.
Handling wise, I feel that the Camaro is actually more composed and has a better feel in chassis and steering, really direct. Interior wise , almost the same although the Mustang is a whole lot roomier, just ask the wife😀.
Transmission wise , both of them being A10, I bought the Camaro V6 used with 2k miles only, shifting in the Camaro was a lot smoother, maybe after some miles the Mustang will be better.
I was actually waiting for a new LT1 from a dealer but the transit/delivery date kept being pushed back. So I tested again the Mustang and was happy with it.
One thing I can say about owning a Mustang, more parts , more forums and more accessories and T-shirts 😜😀, which I never found when I had the Camaro.
