MustangCollector any update from your friend with the RideTech setup? I'm on the fence between the RideTechs and KW V3s. Seems like there are only a select few that are running the RideTechs.

he switched to KW V3< he never installed them after speaking to others on the forum about the problems they had so he sent them back and got a refund minus restock fee.he now has the V3, I have the newest V3 on my car for over 6000 miles and can't say enough good about them. Remember and i say this to many, always go with the brand that has the best quality and outright engineering, look at KW videos online and see what this brand is about. they don't mess around on autocross or play trial and error, they use a 7 post chassis rig,the world famous Nurburgring and real race engineers to develop their kits. Any doubts why Roush chose them to do their coilover kits? hands down they offer the best kits on the market from the ST, V1 and V3 for the street market and occasional racer. yes you can spend double to get even better but that wont be suited for the street or daily driver crowd.

I doubt it matters much who's doing the development, it still comes down to "playing trial and error". Anybody who think's they're going to get it as good as it's going to get on the first try is only fooling themself.

I dare suggest that autocross and the Nurburgring are sufficiently different activities that a coilover setup optimized for either one would not be optimum at the other. Horses for courses, as it were.

Just sayin . . .

How would you rate the KW V3 compared to the FRPP dampers and Steeda ultralite setup you had m8?

Yes and no when you think about true development brands such as Eibach, KW and others you have to really see how much they put into the design and engineering of suspension products where as smaller brands grab the parts bin, weld on some new brackets and do mix and match parts until they find what works. Just because some brands have shock dynos does not mean they are the go to source for what you truly need. I am a believer in extensive testing in all conditions and engineering to the greatest degree. This is why lesser brands have issues always with noise, quality and overall customer satisfaction. How many guys do you EVER hear with coil spring issues with any Eibachs on our cars? uneven lowering, coil slapping, noise etc. none but there are many complaints with other branded lowering springs. same principal. I am very happy with the Kw V3 on my car now and i have installed over 12 of these kits for friends and their friends these past few months and same results. My personal car may have the most miles on a Kwv3 so far who knows but they work better than everything we tested which does come with a much higher sticker price.

No comparison but if you can afford the V3 GET THEM!!!

i simply love how i can dial in my car in 10 minutes for NYC then on the weekends dial it up for country mountain roads and long hauls north. having the full dampening versatility to me is worth the investment. with a shock and spring combo it is one ride, one feel all the time however your roads and driving conditions are constantly changing but your suspension is not.

Thank you for the detailed response, it's great to hear real world experience.

I understand all that, and as a (now retired) engineer I'm very familiar with the idea of engineering your way toward a solution. But at some point you still have to stop crunching numbers, put the calculator down, and just drive the damn thing.

Your later point on damper adjustability is well-taken, and that's one of the big reasons I'm running on Koni yellows. Different settings for the track, for just me driving, and for when my wife is along for more than a couple of miles at a time. It's maybe a 5 minute job including the time it takes to open the hood and trunk and run around the car to change the settings.

Specific to virtually all of the coilover kits is that they lower the car way too much for my taste (3/4" is more than borderline too much and 1" is definitely too much). Both from a geometry point of view and because I really don't like the way a car looks when the wheels are clearly uncentered in the wheelwell openings (makes it look like the car is overloaded or has cut, heated/collapsed, or really tired springs). I realize that most people don't look past the gaps at the tops of the tires, but I can't help seeing the whole way around the openings and can't un-see what I've seen and don't like.

I'm with you Norm on just driving the thing. Many things are engineered to be great, but end up not so great. I figured I needed to stick with a spring that drops it 1" or less. Too much reduced travel is a bad thing and I agree about how it makes the car look as there's more to it than wheel well gap.

MustangCollector You said earlier that you thought the aFe coilovers were top dog stuff and just above said you now have a "new version" of the KW v.3 coilovers. Was not aware KW has a new version. What changed? Are they better than aFe?

For versatility and ease of changing settings, would you say that AirLift would also give you quality, convenience, and versatility? I know SC_Ruby really likes his setup.

My kw v3 is awesome. High speed stability is excllent. Going over little bumps at 120mph is very controlled.

What problems with the ridetechs are you reffering to? I ask because I am interested in them.
