Congrats! Ain't these cars just a hoot with a ST prep?

I did some track time Saturday during an instructor/corner worker training day then today ran in OR Region Event #1. It was raining today but pretty sure I got FTD on my 4th run although Otis in his new Camaro PAXed me and raw timed me by a few tenths on the earlier 3rd runs, which are all that count in OR region. Grrr!

I have video from today and the track time where we did practice race starts and restarts. I ended up chasing a SRF for a few laps :eyebulge:

I'll get it uploaded this week sometime.

On your 5th look at the course. [emoji12] bonus for being first car out sometimes.....

Your car looked great though! I can't wait to get these Perellis off my car.

Haha, true...I did get a rerun. I was just watching the video and man, sure seems like I was on top of the 3rd slalom cone after the start. Hope I didn't hit it and get to keep that 35.9.

I ran on the Pirellis and stock suspension all last summer. Not a great combo for good autocross results, you'll love the Hoosierstones.

(I kinda guessed on the results link cuz it isn't posted yet and sweet, I was clean!)

It was fun,..... Just can't wait to get the stock shocks off the car.

I hit 64.7mph on the limiter in 2nd gear.

Can't wait to see your video.

Here's my best run yesterday. I know it doesn't look like I'm sliding around or making many corrections in the wheel but I guarantee that I was on the edge. I just managed to put a really smooth run together and many of the corrections were with the gas pedal more so than the steering.

I need to work on the track video more before posting it but I have a flight to catch soon this morning.

Nice job. It looked like some tight turn arounds. The car seems compossed.

Steve -- nice work. In all fairness, you can't be nearly as impressive with ultra fast driving in those conditions, but competing in wet events makes you not only a better driver, but also prepares you for events when it rains. Last year, rain freaked out a number of FS drivers who simply were not ready to step up at that moment. You were smooth but aggressive. Very good.

Thanks man, much appreciated! It does crack me up though that Mustang and Camaro and top of the raw times in the rain does crack me up. Look how far these cars have come, lol.

I had no idea what was going to happen but I needed to run in the rain. It sucked to only be able to use about 50% throttle but like you said, it can and does happen at national events where good results really matter.

@Simmons...that's a typical lot we run at in Oregon. Another bummer point and it makes it tough when we get on the bigger courses at national events. We gotta travel to CA to find big, grippy concrete.

Steve, that is a nice run. Watching that vs my 'chimp on crack' driving method makes me evaluate how much work I have to do.

What's really impressive is that if you look at the thrust curve of the Stang, it is very steep up front which means your throttle modulation must have been seriously spot on, whereas other cars have a much more linear or less aggressive thrust curve making driving in the wet easier.

Not to toot my own horn but I feel like I've always been decent at throttle control. I'd like to know how the alien guys (Brain H and Paul Russell, for example) get the earth to move beneath their cars, though. At least, that's what it looks like in their championship winning run videos :hail:

A few posts back I mentioned posting a video I have from the track on Saturday but I don't feel comfortable posting it online. It includes some wheel-wheel action from mock race starts and restarts we were doing to train new corner station workers. As a rookie instructor, non-road racer I was just out there for the experience.

However, here is a pic of my car with two other Mustangs that were there. The red fox body one is the 2014 AS Runoffs champ and the black one a FR500S. I offered the runoffs champ to take me out in my car for a few laps and oh man, I can see why he's a national champion! I also got to ride in the FR500s racecar when he went out and played around with an M3 racecar. Holy smokes, that was awesome!

I really hope I made the right decision to run STP instead of ESP.

Both Pro Solo's I am signed up for, I am the Only person in STP.

ESP always seems to make a class.

An STP car can run in ESP, no?
Can you update the Solo registrations?
