GT350 vs 2017 ZL1

Yup. Imagine if they carry the GT350R Weight/Tire setup plus a few of its methods for weight loss(minus the rear seat delete) and throw in 700ish hp for the potential upcoming GT500.... that car could be a beast.

Yep. Now throw the A10 in there and you have a world beater. You're looking at mid 10s from the showroom floor. :eyebulge::eyebulge:

Supposedly at the media preview they ran HARD for 2 hours without stopping and never had a problem.

I think GM took a page out of the Mopar book and built the ZL1 to the neck with coolers so it can run hard without stopping for long periods of time.

Sad it took too many failed LT4s in the ZO6 to make that happen. But I am glad they did it.

Unless the new 911/S is as fast as a 991 GT3, it won't be faster than a 350R on track.

The new 911 Carrera 2/S and 4/S all went to turbocharging and all received quite a bump in HP and TQ. The 350R barely edges it as is, it's safe to say, Porsche fired back easily.

I own a 350R and have driven quite a few 2016 model porsches, I'd say to be honest you need a real hot shoe driver in the 350R to beat those porches in their 2016 configurations.

Now for fun, if I could compare times from the 350R vs my 911 Turbo S, well obvious money is on the Porsche. Of my three cars in my sig, my 350R is also m slowest accelerating car too. The M4 beats it easily in a straight.

I liked the last 1le and zl1. I like the new 1le and zl1. The 11 coolers rasies concern to me why it needs that many. I like the zl1 package best because it offered the best of both, handling and power for those interested. As many know i shun direct injection because its garbage. However the lt4 raises more concern to me then the lt1. I personally think they should stick with the Lt1. But its not up to me. Im interested to see if any of the lt4 problems follow it to the camaro.

The first runs of the LT4 had issues with limp mode, oil overheating, etc.

It wasn't "just a damaged press car" or "cooling systems needing to be burped", those are lies told to "keep the faith!" and downplay the seriousness of the LT4's birthing problems. There were significant issues which GM quietly fixed when they stopped production on the LT4 to "address concerns". That wasn't reported, btw.

Looks like GM got the LT4 right now, so it's going to be a really great motor for the ZL1 and a stout, stout performer.

I think 11 coolers more than rest thePill's previous case. The LT/Camaro combo runs too hot. Even the superior airflow design of the CTS-V still sees it ridin' dirty.

As soon as it sucks in hot ambient temps, right off the scalding pavement, BOOM.

The LT4 has issues in the z06... but 11 coolers tells me that there is an issue with the regular function of the LT4's.

I'd sure like to see them get revenge for the z28 slaughter. It's so funny to think how hell bent people were that NOBODY could beat the z28. It was blasphemy to even suggest it :lol:

Even Motor Trend could fumble the results :lol:

That's bad... the previous ZL1 was the slowest 500+ hp car on the market. This looks like traction is bad news.

To be real, I wouldn't want my 640hp Camaro hooking up either. Not while ridin' on an tiny Alpha only held together with sub-frames.

305 is not enough tire... 285 is definitely NOT enough.

The 15.3 inch rotors are needed. That was a good idea. CTS-V brakes probably.

Strange that Chevy started a year later, yet has all three performance models either available or announced and we only have two from Ford.

I'm betting the GT500 is some serious business.

The ss competes with the gt. The 1LE competes with the 350.

The ZL1 competes with the GT500 which isn't even announced yet.

Usually Chevy waits until Ford does something so they can study how to beat it.

But the ZL1 always seems to be the other way around. Which is fine by me. The biggest baddest Camaro got spanked last time and will get spanked again.

I do have to say though... They did a superb job on the new ZL1. It looks phenomenal. Aggressive, modern, and actually tasteful.

Kudos to the designers on that one.

Performance should be terrific as well. The new ss does great with 455 hp. 640-650 is definitely going to bring some pain. So it's a worthy adversary.

But... Something tells me the GT500 replacement will embarrass this car.

You said the same thing about the SS. But you know what's great about the reworked suspension in the back? And the PTM and electric limited slip? NO wheel hop.

Yeah ford needs to address the wheel hop issue we hear about with the GT. I know its most likely due to the torque/crappy tire set up the GT has but anything would help lol.

I assure you, a Camaro with 640hp and a 63 inch track NEEDS MORE THAN A 285/305 :lol:

That is aweful... Maybe slightly better traction than the Hellcat on its stock tires. The Hellcat isn't very "sticky" either. Oh good lord...
