Camaro has more reinforcement than a Mustang, it's chassis is is the benchmark in the segment, I'd say that puts it above the Mustang, since it has never been the benchmark.

Ford got to a 33k price point by yanking options and creating a package most people don't want. They saved on R&D too by not offering options like the SS.

When you do equip them similarly, which is a loaded GTPP and a no option 2ss, the cost about the same. Only the SS is a lot faster on a track and dragstrip

WTF?

Do you realize how many base model cars have been sold????????? Please, think before you post.

You know Mark Reuss asked his father which car company should he work for...... His father said GM because they had more performance cars @ that time." Fords got nothing over there". Win for GM loss for Ford. This guy is a car guy for sure. Listen to those tires talking to him
Looks like the Camaro finally got a hair cut ...no more mullet....its world class now.

I will wait and see how this turns out before I make my final judgement about the overheating. Let's not forget what happened the last time we assumed too much. GM delivered on everything.
I would look into the CTS-V heat issues. I would be scared sh!tless finding out an LT4 is headed into my favorite car. Heat, heat and more heat...

You might get 550 of those 640 horse. The CTS-V had 6 or 7 coolers...

It's going to be a $75,000 car... too bad.

It shares a 4 cylinder sedan platform...

The Mustang has a dedicated platform with integrated support.

The 6th Gen Camaro is no more revolutionary in design as the S197 and 5th Gen. The Alpha is great, as long as it's in an ATS. Superior...

The Camaro barrowed the CTS's Alpha anyway.
Mustang is a 4 cylinder platform, I saw a 4 cylinder Mustang the other day. Also so a 464hp ATS too.

What does it mean to barrow a platform?

The deposit is already down at my dealership. The only review that I ever read that had the CTS V overheating was one from Yahoo autos. The packaging between these engine compartments is completely different. This new ZL1 has significantly more air flow to and away from the engine compartment than the CTS. GM will not let the cooling embarrassment be an issue again like it did with the Z06. Lets wait and see how it performs before we try to bring it down.

46k for a Mustang GT?

Sorry.
The Mustang is an awesome car and I gladly paid what he did when I bought mine.

They did what they had to do and it's an old school approach.

Unfortunately, the Camaro won't be capable of producing what the Mustang can for the price. That's just reality...

GM had no other option both weight wise and MSRP wise to put that valuable support in. They just couldn't afford it :(

I am sorry, it's downhill from here. People aren't buying them and Camaro's are typically far overhyped. People caught on and moved on.

Fact is, the Camaro stayed behind while the Corvette and Mustang evolved. I would have never gamble on the fact they would handy capped the Camaro as they did...

...but they did...

You can't see it now but, the Camaro needs a lot of work. Just as the 2010 did and nobody said anything
Man, you're crazy one sided aren't you!!! Talk about a biased view, I have never seen anything like it in my life on all the forums I am a member of. I hope Ford pays you for your blind loyalty.

I don't think you want to get into this. The Mustang was literally wrapped around the 5.0. The Alpha was initially wrapped around an I4/V6. It also contained an A, B, C Pillar configuration. It has been removed and no reinforcement was added into the structure.

Instead, they did what the 2005 Mustang did, as well as the 5th Gen. Sub-frame reinforcement. It's not incredibly bad, or at least Ford squeezed 661hp into it. But, it was always designed as a Coupe.

Ford eventually had to add 120lbs to the entire lineup in 2007 to support the 500hp GT500 though. That was integrated into the V6 and up. Overall, the Mustang got more rigid in 2007. And had to continue adding reinforcement, year over year.

That will likely need to happen. To be honest, the GT500 will need support too, as did the z06 I believe.

The Camaro isn't immune to physics because 5000 people bought one.
