Did someone say there were 11 coolers on the ZL1

No, heat isn't an issue...
It certainly isn't any more.

CTS-V does 0 to 60 in 3.5 weighing aproximately 4100 pounds. The new ZL1 is 200 pounds lighter and has a 10 speed auto. I think this new Z will hit 60 in around 3.2. I know 0 to 60 is a dumb test but it is the only thing in which we have comparable data at this point.

It will heatsoak and pull 100hp off the wheels on Lap 2.

I'll pass...

The LT4 had a hard time in a 3500lbs z06. Can't wait to see one flogged beyond a CTS-V.

Cooling will be an issue, regardless if they installed 11 coolers in the roof...

Have we forgotten the z06 heating issues?

Step right up folks!!

Chevy couldn't afford to include the reinforcement into the structure and still be under $38,000.

They did this in the Corvette and it was evolutionary and revolutionary. The Mustang followed suit and, it is considered somewhat the same.

However, Ford has used ZERO lightweight materials in the structure. That's because Ford couldn't do it for under $33,000.

See... We didn't get the aluminum we wanted but we got a $33,000 car. The Camaro didn't get the rigidity and integrated support. It's the same thing as the S197... without a solid axle.

Regardless, it's a bad move in 2016.

The smaller the footprint the less reinforcement is needed. The Camaro has a large footprint yet no reinforcement. It's a 4 cylinder platform.
Camaro has more reinforcement than a Mustang, it's chassis is is the benchmark in the segment, I'd say that puts it above the Mustang, since it has never been the benchmark.

Ford got to a 33k price point by yanking options and creating a package most people don't want. They saved on R&D too by not offering options like the SS.

When you do equip them similarly, which is a loaded GTPP and a no option 2ss, the cost about the same. Only the SS is a lot faster on a track and dragstrip

In what lap does the GT350 overheat?

Not enough coolers I suppose.

The only Z06 that had serious overheating issues is the one that Car and Driver crashed and the intercooler pump wasn't working properly.

Read the article, the raced the ZL1 all night long and it never slowed down.

The GT350R is just not anywhere near the ZL1's level, I doubt it's any faster on a track than a 1LE.

When the reviews come out this summer and the 1LE murders the GT350TP, I'll be sure to check out your excuses.

Oh don't be too sure...

You will come to find out that the extra coolers were installed to get it to Lap 2.

The z06 heatsoaks on the highway before Lap 1

They should have called it a ZL11

Oh f@ck!! I love it!!!

What lap does it heatsoak? What lap does it pull power?

I'll wait...

I solved the problem of rolling my eyes at his posts by blocking him.

He's a guy who makes up "facts" with zero sources and disappears for a couple months when he's proven wrong.

I will wait and see how this turns out before I make my final judgement about the overheating. Let's not forget what happened the last time we assumed too much. GM delivered on everything.

I do think 11 coolers is A LOT. How many different things need to be cooled? Two Motor oil coolers? Check. Transmission? Check. Rear differental? Check. Radiator? Check. Ac condenser? Check. What the hell else is needed? Thats 6 already. Im not making fun of the car at all. In just shocked it took 11 to keep it from overheating.
I'd guess a gasoline cooler. To keep the vapor pressure down. Maybe multiple boost coolers. One on top and a front mount. Still scratching my head on what the others would be.

It'll be faster in the 1/4 no doubt IMO. Around the track? Maybe, maybe not. Looks like it will produce similar numbers to the 2013-2014 GT500. It will be sad if the 2017 ZL1 is no faster than a 2013 GT500.

Anyone know if the time pulling problems in the Z06 motors have been corrected? Any reason to think this will happen to the Camaro around the track as well? I'd hope not.

It shares a 4 cylinder sedan platform...

The Mustang has a dedicated platform with integrated support.

The 6th Gen Camaro is no more revolutionary in design as the S197 and 5th Gen. The Alpha is great, as long as it's in an ATS. Superior...

The Camaro barrowed the CTS's Alpha anyway.

According to some guys who got to do hot laps in them there was no issues even with them sitting for a while between each lap.

Real world though? Who knows. I feel 11 heat exchangers should probably solve the issue. If it doesn't? Damn.
