4th brake light kit install fail!!! I'm so worthless when it comes to DIY...got everything done then couldn't get the red wire to work, ended up breaking the end of it off, wasted hour and money...fml...think I'll skip the CAI and strut brace attempts, would probably blow up my car or render it useless....

I've heard horror stories on the install of the 4th brake light kid. The CAI and especially the strut brace are pretty damn easy. Don't give up on DIY.

Trust me, that red wire was a pain for me too. I just shoved it in the plug with the included screwdriver. Maybe you can expose more of the wire and try reconnecting to the connector and try again?

Ya I'm just too frustrated to worry about it, I left the bulb in there so at least I have the brighter reverse light....just hate myself whenever I try to do stuff because I'm worthless...

Move on and install the intake and strut brace then tackle the red wire last. If anything, maybe try contacting diode dynamics for a replacement? I'm sure you can do the rest though!

How do you like the extensions? Mine are coming Tuesday. They look very bulky not sure if I will like them.

I know what you mean. Even the simplest things take me 2x as long as stated. Doesn't help when install videos make everything seem so simple, but in reality it isn't.

That said, the red wire was a pain in the ass. I had a hell of a time getting it to click into the connector. It was in the right orientation, but didn't seem to want to click in. I was about to admit defeat, but it eventually worked. I'd contact DD for a replacement. Honestly, I wished they'd redesigned the way that installation works. A short wire with the pin on one side, and a quick disconnect on the other. That way, if there's a failure to get the pin in, you don't have to send the entire 4th brake light module/harness back. They could even include a couple of these short wires in case of failure.

And then, there would be an added benefit of being able to insert the pin into the connector away from the car in more ideal conditions.

They aren't bulky at all. Just spent the day driving and they don't interfere with dash visibility or hand placement. They are very lightweight but quality pieces . It's really easy to install as well.

Ya I found out it's almost impossible laying on your back on the street without a jack or anything...glad to hear others had an issue too, I doubt Diode will send me a replacement, will probably just forget about it, was just something I threw in when I bought all my other LED's
