I'm debating.. I'm looking for something just a LITTLE louder.. NO Drone... Not a bunch of cabin noise... So far looking Ford racing Touring axleback and Corsa ...trying to mimic my 13GT cat delete/GT 500 axleback combo.Hopefully someone that has a combo like this can chime in. thanks

Roush does sound nice but a bit to loud with the off-road setup.. I leave the house at 5:15 am ;)

Lol I know the feeling. I leave around 4. Start up is rough but they quiet down pretty quick. I've been eye balling the corsa sport also

Lmao... Yeah my neighbors would really hate me... The Corsa sport sounds nice but I tried a set on my 13GT with the xpipe and cat deletes, it sounded crappy. I literally sold them the next day.. I would bet it would sound the same on the 15... Then I tried the Gt500 and knew that was the setup for me...

I experimented with various set ups on my S550 PP from deleting the mid pipe stock resonator (suitcase) and installing a Ford Racing X Pipe but leaving the stock exhaust (loud) and then tried the x pipe with installation of the Roush axle back (very loud).

The X Pipe with the Roush axle back combo was too loud and unpleasant for my taste while using the car as an every day driver. It was impossible to avoid drone at highway cruising speeds. Changing gears to avoid drone was a hassle. I considered but rejected other options like putting a Borla resonator or Pypes bullets before the axle back.

Eventually and after lots of research in this forum, I re-installed the stock resonator (unwelded with clamps) and have been very pleased with the Roush axle back. I would say that the Roush AB is louder than stock (not much more) and has zero drone unless the resonator is removed. I sensed no change in performance from going back to the stock resonator.

No wonder that Roush does not offer a resonator for sale with the axle back.

Whatever you do keep the suitcase if you ever decide to put it back on....

What kind of sound would you get if you just installed the Ford X pipe to replace the resonator?

Great Q. I had the xpipe and the stock exhaust before I over did it sound wise adding the Roush AB.

The xpipe with the stock mufflers, my first set up, was louder than stock and deeper in tone, but it did drone somewhat at highway speeds or in the 2,500 rpm range. I felt you lost the sound of the engine (or the air tube) or sound became confused with the x pipe at most points in the rpm range.

Sound is totally subjective and depends on the person but here's my take.
0 being stock to 10 loudest (I suppose headers, no cats, x pipe and some bullet mufflers):

8 is x pipe with Roush AB (great for track or weekend use)
5 is x pipe with stock mufflers (loud for daily use)
3 is stock resonators with Roush AB (great for a daily driver)

I wanted more sound than "0" and was fine with "5" for a while but got the itch for a bit more and got "8" which was way too much, and now I'm at "3" and I'll stay here.

What I like about the Roush/stock resonator set up is I find a "balance" between the engine noise and the exhaust under hard acceleration. Really love the Roush sound. Cruising it's like stock.

long term solution? Roush "active" exhaust but it's pricey.

My combo now is ok,I'm thinking about trying the Ford touring axleback..it is probably the closest to the Gt500 axleback. ..

Here is a video I posted in another thread that someone pointed me to. Longtubes (catless) with stock resonator and corsa touring axleback. I love the sound, and will likely be going this route, as I want a little more volume after hearing my longtubes with the stock exhaust. I don't think this will be too loud at all, but still have that nice deep tone that screams at WOT.
