Gearbox noise

How do your gearboxes sound and feel in 1st and 2nd gear?

I'm not sure if I'm being picky now because of the engine developing a knocking noise but the gearbox seems to whine like mad in 1st and 2nd gear and the gear change is.... unpleasant to say the least... clunky and the clutch is piss poor if I'm 100% honest

I'm just wonder how others have found theirs before I raise this with Ford?

While there got chatting to sales manager they have had one car sounding like a tractor straight off the transporter. They suspect cam noise Ford have said new engine lead time for that is God knows when.

He had also heard one of the UCL cars had been written off on the boat.

1st to 2nd is a bit jerky but I've figured it out now, just pull of with more revs and it is fine. Not got any whine though from mine all I can hear engine and the engine/exhaust is a lot louder in the car than expected.

Outside the car its a little to quiet, but Corsa system will sort that out.

From time to time I get the odd thud, which is the transmission and they all do it, but it is very hard to hear and you gotta listen for it.

Thats not good is it! My dealer have said their own 5.0 GT made the exact same engine rattle mine does but they fixed it. Mine was supposed to go in on Monday to be looked at but we had a death in the family so thats on hold.

I might be being a bit hard on it because I'm a bit upset and stressed in general this week but the gearbox noise is quite significant and I noticed it in the first week of having the car. I've been putting off taking it in for it because I thought maybe it's just how it is.... going to have to have a word with the dealer I think.

Worst thing is I went into Alfa Romeo today and was offered a fantastic deal on the Mustang against a brand new 4C spider...:headbonk:

It's definitely coming from the gearbox and you're not maybe confusing it with the noise from the soundtube?

I found the clutch terrible and couldn't make a smooth change so removed the spring from the pedal. Didn't cure it entirely but definitely improved it.

Written off on the fucking boat? Jesus christ. And I thought my prediction of 'A dealer during PDI smashing the car up' was bad, but really, off the boat?! bloody hell. What did it do? Fall in the ocean :lol:

Engines I believe are suspect to some dodgy cars during the earlier batches effecting the GTs only (to my knowledge), I think rumour was that 'a few got past QA' before the issue was raised and GT's were halted until fixed, it should really be a few parts sent over or a new block and a 'simple' refit of the block.

Odd as it sounds, as long as my cars, people on the forums cars, are fine. Then i'm willing to let stuff like that 'slide' out of my mind ;)

STIB mus? My initials are unfortunatly SM not ST! (Also could be STIG i know... but 6 is a craft number and can be a 'b' or a 'g').

regardless, plate wise i was looking for something shorter (Ie LN LLL) or something more easily personable, but 'steve' is such a common name on plates, and my surname is written so much so that it's almost a females name, impossibility of finding one - high.
[MENTION=14447]Centurion07[/MENTION] Wants it on 2016 plates, doesn't want it on 2015 plates obviously, some people resale wise are 'big dodo brains' and have a habbit of seeing the plate and losing interest. (because it's not a newer plate)

I'm fairly sure it isn't noise from the sound tube. I've been driving Capri's long enough to know what a gearbox whine sounds like lmao
