Right, for those interested in this noise I've stuck the video on my Facebook page (for the second time), you don't have to be a friend of mine to watch it as I've listed it for anyone to watch, you'll find me by putting my email address in the search friends/people box, email is [email protected]

Notice from the video he's driving it up a hill so the engine/gearbox is under load, I did the same and found a hill on a quiet road and mine was really noticeable just like in the video.

It does sound different when you hear it for real, bit like all these exhaust clips, they never sound true to the ear when playing back in a video but this is the closest I could find to it.

Also mine will only do it for as long as the video one if i'm feathering the accelerator climbing a hill, when I just pull away on the flat it's only noticeable for a second or 2.

I have this whirling noise coming from what I think is the gearbox/ clutch. It's like you can feel and hear the cogs but it's more in first and second It's not bothering me as such I think it's well documented and I've done some long trips down to Cornwall. Is this the same noise that some have complained about on first picking up there cars.
I haven't changed the gearbox oil yet but I suppose that's an option.I really notice it when I slow down at a round about and change down and release the clutch I can really hear the gears.
Hello avocet,

I recommend you bring it in to your closest Ford Dealership and get your vehicle diagnosed. You may also contact the Britain Ford Customer Relationship Centre at 0845-841-1111 for further assistance.

Did modurstang say anything about it? What were their thoughts?
I can't speak for Twiggy but having spoken to Mike about mine (I'd asked him to check it out before stripping stuff off) he said there was nothing especially untoward he could hear, and he does have a lot more experience of the MT82 than the rest of us. But there again these noises come and go a bit and can be difficult to replicate on demand.

I'd been through the usual back-to-the-dealer stuff and although noise was acknowledged it wasn't viewed as anything to worry about (which I took to mean "it won't go bang"). To their credit, they did run a number of tests and did a comparison with another vehicle. And I guess importantly, the noise was recorded as a fault for future reference.

That's much louder and lasts longer than my noise. Only heard it for 1 to 2 seconds both times.

Mine also has some transmission whine in 1st and 2nd, you can only hear it at low speed. I would imagine it's just the nature of the box with noisy shorter ratios?

I'll be honest here chaps even after all my moaning i'd say it's fine, too many people are coming up with the same issue now, if it was a one off then maybe there's cause for concern , I've spent many nights reading through the USA sections and i'm sure it's just the way these cars are, I know some of you are worried but i'll say this the more of you that come across this in your cars the more the whole issue relaxes me if that makes sense.
