Another trip out today and I've come to the conclusion that there is nothing to worry about and it's just the nature of the gearbox.I can feel it at certain revs combine this with intake noise and it can seem raw.

Drove back yesterday 320 miles
The gearbox is noisey in 1st 2nd,goes away in third and at speed. It pointless going back to dealer as I know they won't do anything, seems to be common problem.
Check yours out for noise in first and second, sounds like no oil and you can here the gears :frusty:

Same as mine, mine's off to modyourstang next Monday so i'll ask if they can check the gear box oil levels, Mike said he'd come out in mine to hear what I've been moaning about for weeks even tho i'm more settled about it now.

Mike at Modyourstang heard my cars noise yesterday and came straight out with the cause which is the Thrust Bearing and it's fine and nothing to worry about, seems some cars make the sound louder than others.

Good news, but still annoying, I'm guessing mine is the same.

This is the culprit according to Modurstang Mike. I think better known as the clutch release bearing (UK) or throw out bearing (North America). The noisy ones aren't exactly broken it seems, just a bit er, noisy. Don't think it's a massive job to replace if that bothered by it.

Change it when you change the clutch. Wonder who'll be first with that? :)

(Hopefully not me - mines auto!)

The MT-82 is just a noisy transmission. Pretty much confirmed on CarThrottle when someone made a "what do you hate about your S550" post and almost every answer had "noisy transmission" in some way, shape or form.

Any solution to this? I feel like I noticed mine with the switch to bigger wheels (stock 18 to 20" staggered). Not to say I'm seeing a strong case here, but anyone see logic in that? - ie. the new wheels being heavier = putting on more load? Just brainstorming here...
Would love to get this settled as it makes the car sound a little weak when taking off at stoplights.

ÂŁ10 says 666mac will be the first to blow his clutch or change it. Otherwise it's on Gibbo205 or anubis (Anubis as track car, Gibbo as he loves to change everything ;) )

My gearbox is getting noisier on the move in third gear & slightly in fifth. I dont think its clutch release related. There is no vibration on the gear lever nor does holding it make a difference. Its most noticeable from cold & reduces when fully warm after say 15 miles & more noticeable under load. Hard to describe the sound more of a whirring rather than a zizing noise. The videos no longer work so cannot compare. No concern about first & second as most of this thread. Any ideas as dealer is over 2 hours away.
