Worth taking the spring out just to test yours twiggy??
Yes but I would only do it if I had the other spring to replace it with, it's a bugger really as i'm happy with how the clutch feels. To be honest I don't mind the noise as I can live with it, thing that bothers me more is what's the cause and is it doing damage.

Can you run the Clutch without a spring? Haven't tried or looked etc, would assume you could just to test the sound (Without moving?). or does the sound only arise when the car is mobile?

You don't technically need the spring but you will get a bit of a spongy feel at the top of the pedal as it won't return right to the top.

If you take the original spring out then good luck getting it back in. The new one goes in by being compressed which you do my hand. The old one you won't budge.

Honestly I would just order a spring. Its ÂŁ20 (delivered) from Steeda UK and should give better feel and may make the sound go away.

It'll only do it when you are moving, like was said above that spring won't go back in once out.

What ever It is i'm starting to think it's normal even if a little loud at times, i'm taking mine for undersealing and exhaust work soon to modyourstang so i'll let them have a play.
What's the undersealing gonna cost Twiggy?

Think it's around the ÂŁ300/ÂŁ400 mark, modyourstang do a good job, they even take the plastic wheel arch protectors out and spray the inside.

I'll try and post it in the underseal section.
The one with the proper job vs the Zeebrugge overspray on the propshaft is my fave. Sorry Twiggy, I could have done it myself (Lazyitis by name....:headbonk:)

Drive into town today convinced me the noise must be thinning oil when hot
No noise whatsoever when cold, changing gear and in creeping traffic.
On motorway, drive for a couple of hours then into town and slow traffic and I purposely kept on changing gear, the whurring cog sound was back.

Listen to the sound near the end of this video. Similar noise?

No nothing like it, it's definately the oil in the gearbox getting warm and thinning out Imo. It doesn't happen when cold.
It's always after a good run, 1st2nd gear slow moving traffic,or accelerating in 1st 2nd, you can feel the cogs I don't know how else to describe it. Get up to speed 3rd 4th etc everything is ok

No it's not like that, mine only does it when you are moving off from stopped or creeping in traffic, only lasts at it's worst a second or two, it sounds like the gear cogs rotating.
