I’ve used them a few times. My collection.
I would take a repair pick but fortunately all of my current cars are thus far chip free.

Dr. Color Chip is your friend.

The dealer-available chip touch-up things pictured have their place (i.e. gigantic boo-boos), but the Dr. Color Chip setup is the way to go for a more invisible fix for smaller chips.

I tend to agree, Jim...my constitution couldn't manage leaving mine in a moderately tight spot like that one unless I was guarding it the whole time.

I prefer to walk from the south 40 and always upwind down here in Gale City. :-) Those darn shopping carts can come out of nowhere.

The scum of the earth are the people who vandalize cars like this. I read one guy on the demon forum who left it for just over ten minutes in a parking lot and by the time he got back someone had keyed it.

CL: I don't see that sort of thing happening down here but I DO see the careless people throwing their vehicle doors WIDE OPEN. And with our brisk wind almost constantly blowing, both doors and shopping carts are potential dings.

You're making me nervous parking like this

yeah I kinda goofed on this one actually. I rolled into the parking lot right as they were opening and there wasn’t a soul around. I stupidly figured I could scarf my food down in 15 minutes and be gone before it got busy. Then as I was eating, I was quickly reminded of how quickly In-N-Out fills up after it opens *face palm*

Thanks for the info. I haven’t applied any of the factory stuff, so I’m interested to look at this as well before I effect the repair

Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya punk?

Well I certainly don’t. I’m in the middle of bringing 1296 home to SoCal from Seattle. Been cruising the left lane the whole trip, but as I get into Sacramento area, have to go into the right lane to switch freeways. No sooner had I done this, super loud bang from behind the driver’s door. I surmised at the time that the big rig to my front left had kicked up some concrete into me. Next time I stopped.... (see photo)

It’s a risk when you drive cross country I know. But damn, only 24 hours after signed paperwork. *eye roll*

sorry to hear - i had my GT350R delivered via enclosed transportation to my detailer directly from the dealership then had the car wrapped with Xpel PPF. This may have helped in this situation. My GT350R is shadow black and I didnt want any small rock chips effecting the paint.

Based on my experience with film on multiple vehicles, even the new, really tough stuff from Xpel and others, wouldn't have saved the paint from those hits.

Film will only completely deflect very small particles and for the larger types, it usually only reduces the amount of damage to the car. I've actually become somewhat of a film cynic and still don't know if I'll have it put on mine or not.
