WTF - no front / back window weatherstripping?

I just realized my car has no rubber weatherstripping around the sides / top of either the front windshield or back window. Is that how they all are?! Dont tell me ford only considers that worthy of putting on a "premium" model. I just spent 20 minutes scratching the shit out of the bottom of the windshield trying to pick out leaves and berry looking things jammed under the corners of the glass

Neither does mine. Its just a big gap and I really noticed it when I was looking the other day more closely because I want to wrap the roof. Not sure how I would get the wrap in there so that we wont see yellow.

That's normal. It was touted as advancement a few years back to be able to put windshield in without needing trim. Been like that a few years now. My 11 was that way. Personally, I like it.

Thanks guys.....i was wondering if I got a built on a Friday at 4pm car. It wouldnt bother me if I did not have to park under a huge tree at my house that drops twigs, berrys, and leaves like crazy............that all wind up jammed in that channel under the glass..........looks like I need a car cover

I just remebered a thread from yesterday that had some rather large pix in there.

The windshield and back window are an integral part of the cars structure. No weather stripping is required because of the new bonding/adhesive agents used in "modern" cars. I like it as there is no moisture retention under trim work. and, no clips screwed into or clamped to sheet metal for trim retention. You can dry and wax the entire area, around the windshield/back window, thus less chance of rust.

I would think a strong garden hose, or compressed air would get all that crap out from there. Those methods might prevent possible scratching.

It's too bad that with all the advancements in the adhesive, they couldn't even put a simple level to the glass. My rear fastback glass (and many others from what I've read) was put on crooked. It's not sitting level in the frame. The passenger side seems to have more adhesive than the drivers side so there is a slight angle to how the glass sits which is very noticeable when comparing it to that 3rd brake light. There was another thread about it where I posted a pic of mine. The general consensus seems to have been that mine was one of the worst although this is a common factory defect.

If there's a bright side to my getting rear ended several weeks ago, it's that the body shop is pulling the glass and fixing it. I was at the point where I was 50/50 on whether I would make Ford fix it or not before the accident. Most people wouldn't notice it until they NOTICE it, if you know what I mean...

Yea I am hoping the hose at the house does the job. I just noticed it coming back from my lunch break in the office parking lot and immediately started shoving the long skinny key inside the keyfob in there trying to get stuff out. Didnt have much success, things are jammed up in there good

Please post pictures of your back glass after the repair, I'm very interested to see how it turns out.

My back glass is also lower on the driver's side. The passenger side glass edge is flush with the roof. The driver's side glass edge sits about 1/4 inch below the roof.

I just use a hose and rinse it out. Comes clean easy. The front sometimes I gotta use a corner of the wash mitt to get a bug out but they never get deep.

My back glass is level.

+1 and then they usually shrink or get distorded and start to peel away or make noise in the wind.
