Wrench light on, cold start.

Anyone know what this may be?

I started my 2017 Mustang GT going to work an hour ago, the wrench light was on and said see manual upon starting it.

I moved my car out of the apartment complex and I restarted it. Wrench light gone.

I drove 15 minutes to work and it seemed extremely normal the entire time. No weird noises, no lack of RPMs or throttle. (Didn’t drive it hard, just enough to get it to 75mph for my 15 mile drive.)

the only reason I drove it to work (I don’t have any other means of transportation) is because the light went away and it drove fairly normal. The only weird thing is it’s cold outside now. It was 30 degrees this morning when I started it and it hasn’t been this cold since last winter. (I’m in AZ)

You'll need to pull the code to figure out what caused it. If the light went off then it's probably not an active issue anymore

Honestly I wouldn't worry about it then unless it comes back on. If it comes back on scan it right away while the light is on. If you still aren't able to pull a code it could be abs or srs. Not all scanners will pull those codes. But for now, wait to see if it comes back.

How old is your battery? If it’s older, it may be starting to go and the car will start doing weird things. It does not like a low battery. Most auto parts stores will do a free battery health check, might be worth stopping and having it checked out.

That would be my first thought if it’s not throwing an actual code

How old is your battery? If it’s older, it may be starting to go and the car will start doing weird things. It does not like a low battery. Most auto parts stores will do a free battery health check, might be worth stopping and having it checked out.

I replaced my battery probably like a year and a half ago? It’s getting pretty cold here now in AZ (cold for here) it was so weird. Has me worried

Might be worth having the battery health checked. Not unusual to have one that’s a bit of a dud, it happens sometimes. Should have a warranty too so if it is the battery it should be replaced under the warranty.

yeah I should get it checked! It just said “see manual” accompanied with the light. Nothing else… I’m the type of worry about everything lol so I am haha

Oh same here, I see a weird light or hear a funny noise and it’s a full on investigation LOL. Start with the easy checks and work your way up from there if it comes back.

At this point there's nothing to be too concerned about.
As suggested, have the battery tested. Most auto parts stores will do it for free. Or, if you like tools, inexpensive battery/ charging system testers are fairly inexpensive on Amazon starting around $27.
The wrench light is a bit different from the check engine light in that it looks at a broader range of data points. A CEL is usually something that affects emissions where the Wrench light could include ABS, throttle sensors or even transmission issues. As long as it's not a flashing wrench light then it's not something immediately critical. Should it come on again try to read the codes while the light is still on. Should it still show no codes then consider having it connected to a more sophisticated scan tool rather than a simple reader.

It was definitely the weirdest thing. If I had like a bad wheel bearing or something would it do it? Like ABS ?

You will need forscan or take it to a dealer to be able to read the code that set off the wrench light. Most will show up as a history code but sometimes they will not. Hopefully you have forscan or a cool dealer who won't charge for an IDS hookup'

It's my understanding that ABS can trigger the wrench light.
Having said that, an ABS fault usually pisses off a lot of other things like traction control too.
If it hasn't come back I wouldn't speculate too much. It won't help.
Unless you have something else going on that you haven't disclosed.

That’s the only thing that has happened this far. It still drives like the day I bought it lol just the weird wrench light this morning.

I’m coming up on 60k miles. Is it a possibility it’s for the 60k service interval?

Those are not the only two options. Most decent scan tools will work as well. My $400 scan tool will, an has, identified codes triggered by the wrench light.
Also, I think it's unlikely a dealer, or shop, would do a diag for free. Most will forgive the diag fee if you let them do the work though.
