I just refuse to allow my car to look that bad. I ran a stock size 265 winter tire on my RWD M3 for years without problem. I am running PP1 size rims right now and would probably just run a 255/275 winter tire if I had to.

Can`t get over how goofy seeing a MACH 1 on skinny 18 inch rims with 235 tires would be. Please post pictures if you end up doing it.
My car will never be in snow. Winter tires are not for looks, they are for function. Like putting high heel Jimmy Choos on your girl when there's 8" of snow on the ground because boots don't look as good.

Yeah, it’s obviously not the best look ever but it’s more for the functionality and safety when you may need it over looks for a couple months. Like I said, I have an Ecoboost now which dimension wise is basically the same, and it doesn’t look terrible. I don’t see why it would for some reason be much worse on a different Mustang.

100% function over looks in the snow. Doesn’t matter if it looks good if you end up off the road, or worse…

Lol. Not the same at all! My setup is only 1.6 inches wider than your idea size. Besides, it's a Mustang not a 4x4. Just gotta use your head when driving in the snow. Before my Mustang I had an SRT Charger with 275 A/S's. Drove it year round too. There's limits to driving our cars in snow. The snow tires just gives it an edge, nothing more.

You can use 305's if you want, just know that they won't cut through the snow the same, because it will "float" more on snow than pressing through to the pavement. It took a lot of years before I figured out why my brothers 65 Buick special convertible was so good in the snow. It was those puny tires it had.

I understand your point and I agree with your logic. I've also have similar life experiences to go off of. My point is what I have works and works for me . Just giving the OP my personal experience with my current winter set up as it relates to his question.

Listen I am not trying to talk crap but it probably looks terrible from certain angles. You posted good angles.

And its a EB not a dam MACH 1 lol.

The rim style looks good though.

Narrow tire/wheel with spacers to bring wthe wheel out further. Keeps the look and gives you the safety of narrow tires.

Haha I get you feel that way, but for being a winter set up it’s honestly not bad. Of course not as good as my summer set but that’s expected. And I love the Mach 1, obviously which is why I’m getting one, but to be fair it looks essentially like a GT which is essentially how the EB looks, so personally I just don’t think it’s that ridiculous considering I’d rather be safe if I have to drive in any snow.

short of a sticker, you can't tell an EB from a M1 from another.

I bought a set of winters (275/40 blizzak) just for shits and giggles (they are very cheap at tirerack) just to try and to avoid the thumpa-thumpa-thumpa my Conti DWS make when parked overnight.

So I want to see if anyone can help me out here. I want to keep the cost of a set of winter wheels and tires to a minimum, preferably under $2k. I feel like the easiest and cheapest option is to get a package deal through something like TireRack where the tires will be mounted for free. The problem is that when you put Mach 1 w/ HP, only one wheel option shows up and it's almost $800/wheel, which I just do not want to spend. I wanted to see if there were other possibilities, so I entered GT performance package, and more options showed up. So my question is will these also work on a Mach 1 with HP? I do not see why it wouldn't, because I thought the brakes and everything were the same at the GT PP. I will attach a link with the wheels I am looking at, does anyone know if they would work?

100% function over looks in the snow. Doesn’t matter if it looks good if you end up off the road, or worse…
You guys make it out to seem like with 235 snow tires you'll be able to through 2 feet of powder on an ungroomed trail, but with 275-285 snow tires your car will literally blow up the moment the first snowflake touches the ground.

Yes narrower tires do better, but it's not like if he goes up a few sizes on the same tire it will completely change the way the tire functions. No I'm not advocating running 305+ wide snow tires just for "looks", but at the same time you don't *need* to run 235 tires to get function out of them. There's always a middle ground for looks and function.

I did say in an earlier post that I wouldn’t go any wider than PP1 sizes. However, I agree with Lloyd that 235’s are ideal. I run 235’s in the winter and have gone through 6” of snow no problem

I agree about the sizes mentioned. But with hp it don't matter what size tire he uses. He won't be going through 6 inches of snow. Unless he plans to use it as a plow.
