Winter tires?

The winter tires get a lot cheaper if you go down to 18" wheels. Just got Michelin X-ice 3 on 18" wheels mounted, balanced, and shipped for ~$1,450. If you go with blizzaks that drops down to ~$1,320. Those prices are with cheap wheels but they're for winter so you probably don't want really nice wheels any way.

Anybody getting a 17" winter tire set for non PP cars? I ended up getting the Dunlop Winter Sport 4D's with wheels from tire rack.

OP has non-PP ecoboost. 17" should fit - at least according to tirerack.

Yea I've got a non PP ecoboost as well, so 17's should be fine. I just haven't heard anyone talk about getting 17's much yet. They were so much cheaper for the winter set!

I ordered last week and was told that they're not being delivered until after Christmas because of the backlog on TPMS.

I ordered last week and was told that they're not being delivered until after Christmas because of the backlog on TPMS.

They didn't, but I need the tires to get to work so I told them to mount the tires without TPMS and that I'll get them later when they're available.

I too have a GT PP and im looking for rims/all season tires for winter as well.

Can I get 235 or even 225 tires on the 19 inch rims? I would rather get narrower tires for snow.

Ok, legit winter tire question: Should I break in the car with the OEM wheels / tires first before i put on the winter tires? I feel like the 1,000 mile break-in period probably shouldn't be done with winter rubber, but I don't really have anything concrete to base that feeling on.

why would it matter which tires you're using?

Tire break-in can be done at the same time as the car or separately. It doesn't matter.

If it is winter then use winter tires. Otherwise use 3 season tires.

Another question on winter tires. Do you need to get winter tires for the front? Or would an all season do, since the front wheels are not driving the car? Never had RWD before so not sure. thanks.
