Have you ever dropped the subframe on S550?

A few times. The alignment pins help a lot. I also have the steeda stop the hop kit installed.

Using long all thread like Kelly sells helps a lot when installing the whole unit by yourself.

It can still shift from center. Anyway I had no trouble lining things up.

The plate that those bolts secure, has enough wiggle room to move around, without moving the subframe, even with the dowels locating the subframe.

I found this out as when I went to fit my IRS braces, I couldn't get the bolts directly in the middle of the slots (to satisfy my OCD), until I had slackend that plate and adjusted it a little.

It gave me enough room to achieve this :

I believe it's also (partly) the reason that Steeda have enlarged the holes on the IRS braces over the years i.e. to reduce the 'the braces didn't fit quite right' kind of comments (rather than the end user making sure everything else is spot on before fitting the braces)
