I am a little concerned about ordering the new one - she could not drive the last one because it was a stick!
Girls can learn to drive stick just fine. And they will, given the right incentive (been there, more than once). Here's a currently-running thread . . . http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54038

Wow. Looked like it worked after all. Still can't get an avatar though?
For an avatar you'll have to resize it down, and since this can even be done in either Picture Manager or Paint you won't be on the hook for buying and installing any new photo-editing software.

Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 125 by 125 pixels or 97.7 KB (whichever is smaller).

Thanks Norm
I have no doubt she could drive a stick -- if someone taught her. But this way, I knew she would not:D. My wife can't drive a stick either:thumbsup:

Thanks for the avatar advice as well.

Nobody ever taught me how to drive stick. I just figured it out myself.

I learned how to use the clutch with a 1959 Case farm tractor. My grandpap bought it brand new. I was 3 years old. I still have the tractor.

Sticks are great but kids these days are really spoiled. No more parallel parking on driver's test, back up cameras, back up sensors, auto braking. Unfortunately, we are the last generation of drivers. Most kids I know look at driving as a chore - for me, the drives in the woods or by the ocean are spiritual events and a way to enjoy the seat of the pants, connection to the world. Okay, tons of 80's Metal playing - "Nobody Rides for Free!"

I'm so conflicted. My 2005 Mustang convertible was a stick and I loved it (except for sitting in bumper to bumper traffic); the 2015 is an auto and (I hate to admit it) but I'm kinda enjoying it. Sure, I miss it sometimes, but overall I like it; I feel as though this makes me weak....LOL

Although sport mode and paddle shifters do compensate somewhat.

LOL! I feel your pain. I loved the MGW shifter in my 11 Vert manual but, this automatic is no dog and the engine and transmission work smoothly together. That and I can drink my Starbucks while driving.

I like manual so much I may have ditched the convertible requirement (and I really wanted a convertible) if I couldn't find a manual, 4 seat convertible. Fortunately my wife drives manual too (and always has) so no issues sharing the car there.

When we use the Mustang to drop our kids off at daycare and school, we stand out even more (especially with the top down) in the sea of minivans and SUVs. Last time as my kid out, a passing friend of his who saw us asked his dad "why don't you have a sports car?"

It is far harder to find a stick than it is a convertible LOL! When I bought my '11 only 7% were sticks but 25% were convertibles - finding one in Sterling grey was like finding the needle in the haystack but so worth it. No idea what the production percentages are for the non GT transmissions but, I imagine it is even lower. Ford likes to sell the more expensive automatics.

Yeah, and manual + convertible is even more rare. Before I got the Mustang, I stopped by a BMW dealer and asked if they had any manual BMW M235i convertibles. He wasn't even aware they made those (they do).

(responding to the OP's question at the beginning of the thread):

At least in the case of the Ecoboost:

Weight.

Curb weight-Ecoboost coupe-3,532 Lbs.

Curb weight-Ecoboost vert-3,742 lbs (Car and driver, and it was a premium package car too!).

Not such a big deal when you have a V8 mill, but I've read more than one car mag. review that says the Ecoboost vert is a pig ;) Not to mention that the car magazine guys tend to test the loaded out models...

I was never into convertibles as they always had the feminine, rich balding middle-aged douchebag stigma, but when after I began riding motorcycles, getting back into a regular car was just plain awful. I missed the free, open air feeling of not having anything around me, so I got my first 2012 Mustang Convertible. After getting rid of that car for something more reliable and practical, I missed the open air feeling and every time the weather was nice, it got depressing which led me back to the 2015 and I have not regretted it a single day.

Convertibles, especially RWD ones, are probably one of the most impractical vehicles you can buy. Fabric roof, 2wd, 2 doors, which leaves the main purpose of the vehicle = FUN and FUN IT IS!

There's no better feeling than cruising through the city lights, or beautiful country side with your lady beside you and nothing around or above us. I love the sunshine and outdoors which makes even the most mundane commute a complete pleasure. Sometimes when I'm driving home after a long day, I don't even want to stop driving, because it feels so amazing.

This beautiful machine has given me so many unforgettable memories, girls and fantastic pictures over the last 13 months of ownership. I don't regret a single second.

Danielle,

I would be happy to rent her a car to learn on, but she is not going to learn on my car - and she has no interest. For a JerZ girl she was remarkably happy to still have her parents drive her around. But she might change her tune once the new automatic vert shows up.

WesleyEng - Watch that "feminine, rich balding middle-aged douchebag stigma" stuff - it hits a little too close to home!

Redraven571, SterlingStangMan and Peetucket - you have just described why I switched to the auto in this pony. I loved the manual, except in traffic, which is to say, except in New Jersey:frusty: .And I did not love this Auto, there is a noticeable two count lag from shift to the gears kicking in, at least on my tester.

Peetucket, great shot of the family - thanks!

And MarkH - really... go sox? Fine. Go Nats! and you have to be carful not to type that with no spaces!
