My wife still has her 05 Convertible, we have found over the years that here in Southern Ontario we get about 14 days of nice vert weather--the car is stored in the winter and when summer hits it's so hot and humid that we leave the top up and run the A/C. You got to remember to tip the seats forward or they will brand your skin from the sun heating them up. Our kids never wanted the top down because they coudn't see their game or phone screens--might sound like I don't like it but we keep the car for waiting for a magic evening to cruise with the top down.

No haters...just opinions.
And you know what opinions are like...
I think mine is great. I love it now just as much as the day I brought it home.
And "IF" I ever get rid it, I just wouldn't replace it with another.

you guys should hold a tribal council and vote him off the island (I trust you've heard of the 'Survivor' TV show).

We are having a big discussion on the UK MCOGB about "what you hate about your S197" loads of people having moans, but not one would give them up because of their little faults
For me and I think for thousands who go to Car Shows, you drive and love the car with your Heart not your Head
I had an S197 for 4 years, and the handling was crap, would get beat by a Mini on a roundabout, but I got a Buzz driving her, it put a smile on my face, when i was feeling down, get in the car and go for a drive. To you it seems the Mustang is "just a car" ?

A lot of convertible haters on this thread. Here's mine. Hate all you want.
Wow! I assume those are before and after. Shots. Both gorgeous. The top looks like what I am waiting for in early June. One question- I ordered the blackout package and looks like you had the wheels, but not the rest. How did you do that?

Anyone who has seen me would understand that I am not trying to draw attention to myself  the question is how I think the car looks and how big a grin it puts on my face - the rest of the world does not exist, except as traffic, of course!

Yes before and after

The PP option comes with the black wheels, 3.73 rear end, etc. But I think you can't have the PP option and blackout option for some reason.

I bought the emblems CJ pony parts, they are ford official and a lot cheaper than paying for blackout option.

I like that striped one. But tell me, how do you keep the stripes from getting all kinked up when you fold the top down. Lol.

Vert turbo!!!!
This is my first vert.... wanted one since forever. And wished I would have gotten one WAY before now. For me it changed some things since I'm single. Gives me another option to do something "free" and made some experiences available I did not have before.

I've had mine for a year and 15 or so days now... I've had the top down every month except for maybe Feb. Great winter this year... I normally drop the top from 60 to 90 degrees... and when it is not raining. I love it because it gives a bit more head room for people in the back seat...

I'd do it again... will my next car be a vert? I'm not sure but I'm loving this experience.

Negatives: when I power wash the car, it leaks on the passenger side... never when it rains though. My mom's cat got on the top and did some very, very minor damage. Yea, cat still alive (I'm getting kind in my old age...).

I might go with a hard top vert next.... but I'll have to say I really LOVE the look of the current mustang... I am interested to see if Ford can pull off something like this again.

Top up or down or hard top.. Mustang is one sexy damn car... I don't care what anyone says.

I love seeing another Mustang on the road... if I did not have one, I'd WANT one.

I would have bought a convertible, but unfortunately Ford Australia in their infinite wisdom decided to only sell them here with an automatic transmission, so that killed it for me.
That's too bad. I wonder what their reasoning is.

Kind of, except that every week the contestants get to decide which one of them is going to get kicked out of the competition.

I think I understand what you're saying, but I'm not a show-n-shine, car show kind of enthusiast. No matter what make or model car I might own. Oh, I'll walk around as a spectator three or four times a year at local shows and chat with a few of the entrants, but that's about the extent of it. Well, I did put my '08 into a Mustang get-together once, but that's a short story for a different thread.

I'm afraid you let yourself get sucked into playing the other guy's game on his home turf. A 3600+ lb, 107" wheelbase car is never going to have a Caterham level of nimbleness but the S197 is potentially better than it generally gets credit for. Mine, lightly modified, has datalogged over 1.3g laterally (and turned in quite nicely) on fully warmed up true street tires even on its soft OE springs. Just for starters I think you needed better and wider tires on significantly wider wheels.

I don't define the automotive side of my life around owning a Mustang and certainly not simply because it is a Mustang, if that's what you're getting at. I don't personify it by giving it a name or a gender or consider it a fashion accessory to be seen in, never did those things with any car I've ever owned. I was an engineer for 40 years (and I've been interested in technical automotive topics for 50+), maybe that'll help you see where I'm coming from.

I don't know to be honest, there are a few people who are annoyed about it. Rather than get an auto and be unhappy I decided a stick fastback was the next best thing.

Silly part is that our spec includes the PP in auto which you guys in the states are crying out for.

Ford pulled a fast one by not allowing the base GT to get convertible - otherwise I'd of considered it.

From the picture, we could have the same cat (well, when mine finally shows up in early June. Is that Magnetic with the black accent package?
It's Magnetic with the Performance Package. I have an identical 2017 on order but going with the nickel PP wheels instead of black.
