I'll be skipping comp cams, mainly because of price, but also because they're known for cam breakage (at least in the older foxbody 302). I was hoping the CJ exhaust cams would be cheaper....yikes.
Yeah I don't see why these companies price cams so high if they want them to sell like hot cakes they should price them much better. Otherwise it's not a viable option for most people.
So if cams are so beneficial wouldn't more people be making them for them.... I mean really if there's a market wanting them companies go crazy and start mass producing . if gains are huge and cams are priced right there's no reason people wouldn't do
With todays technology, the factory cams are pretty stout to begin with. Throw a power adder on any 4.6 dohc motor or 5.0 dohc motor and see what they make with stock cams.
Ford racing has done a nice job with their offerings. These motors are pretty much optimized from the factory now-a-days. Gone are the 225hp v8 5.0L that used to put out 160-180rwhp.
