The reason I didn't want a generic German car is that they're just to common, and as I've said before I ain't propping up the German car industry with my money.....

If the Mustang went I'd be looking at a Jag, or an Alfa, or even a Lexus

I'd love a Morgan Aero 8, but it's got a BMW engine in it so it's a out....

The Alfa with the name I cannot spell is a fabulous car, have looked at them drives excellent, goes like a stink but I am just not sure on the looks, but you can already get less than a year old example for 50k.

Being an Alfa I can see them around mid 30 in another year or so, warranty is crucial though with it having a Ferrari engine which once was a V8.

But firm favourite for me right now is the Jag, I just like how naughty it is.

That jag in Blue, looks epic..... can't see how anyone couldn't enjoy a car like that....

Have you seen the the prices of Lexus LcF V8's??

A lot of car for the money... and with Lexus dealer back up looks like a bargain V8 to me...

Most buyers can't quite reach the price tag of the BMW /Merc/Porsche

True to some extent but they'll buy second hand. Also, BMW M2 is similar price as is a Porsche Cayman.

I have tried to search ads for the blue 66 plate Jag you posted but without success.However the same spec appears to be in the £80-90k range which opens up a world of exotic cars ,lambo /Ferrari/991 turbo(almost)merc GTS( I think it is called) etc.Even if you don't worry about depreciation,which I definitely do now.....,these cars(maybe not the Merc) will hold their value so much better than the Jag and I would have thought would appeal more to someone of your young-ish years more than the Jag and the golf/country club set;)

Having owned a 996 turbo and as characterless as it was I don't think any 911 turbo can be beaten for the money /residual /performance/reliability,equally I no longer want one again either.

Jaguar owners don't really do forums we write letters to Jaguar Enthusiast Magazine. So a debate takes years.

So at twice the price of a Mustang comparisons are kind of off the table really.

Not sure where you are getting that the Mustang is heavily depreciating or will do soon. CAP values are very strong and dealers are paying these for part exchange, I have just gone through the process with my second Mustang. They are still very rare to see on the road and are holding their values extremely well, and will continue to do so even more with the big jump in list price on the 18.
On the other hand that Jag is going to continue on a downward spiral and you'll see another £20k drop off that in the next 12-18 months. So not sure I buy your argument to switch, seems like you have fallen for the Jag and looking for excuses to go for it, which is fine, but lets not dress it up.

The new F type replacement is due in 2021. Jaguar say it will be a totally new design unlike the present one with a floor pan dating back to the old XJS from 40 years ago.
The XJS floors all corroded (really badly)
Then the XK was brought out based on the XJS, these all corroded badly.
Now the F type is based on the XKs floor pan, and these are corroding, even with a cardboard floor. Only Jaguar could achieve that.

It just seems crackers to overstrech your finances on a secondhand 80K Jag when a perfectly good brand new A10, magneride 2018 GT can be had for less than 45K.
But each to their own.

The S650 is due then too, if its epic I can return to Mustang ownership, if not I can just grab an 18 or jump into something else.

Where are the examples of F-type corroding I cannot find any examples of it online anywhere, just x-type, xjs and xk. Even if so I am not particular worried due to knowing people pretty high up at Jaguar so the service being good is essentially guaranteed,

My 18 was 49k what it will be worth in 12-18 months no idea but I feel under 40k.

Jag is 80k, in 12-18 months it could be worth 60k or 75k again its an unknown.


I cannot get a special Mustang in UK like a GT 350 though with the 18 you could get very close with mag ride, body kit and some NA tuning with A10.

But I feel I want something different, something truly special to me and something that is a rare as horse poo poo on the road, but something that has huge power, can put it down and handles great, the SVR will give me that.

Plus a Mustang (2018) is a bit of a side step, I mean its not going to be night and day different or better than my old one, whereas an SVR will.

Financially I am not stretched I have the disposable monthly income and even though on an 80-100k I have finance its affordable and with something so special and at the top of its food chain there is no money required for mods and the other great thing on the Jag, like Mustang servicing is cheap at £480 and if it corrodes which I doubt but the warranty can fix it.

Driven R8 V10 Plus S-tronic, R35 GTR, AMG GT-S, 991.1 Turbo, 991.1 GT3 and out of all the cars I have driven the two I want is the SVR and GT3, both for different reasons and neither for me is a clear winner.

Believe it or not but in the short time I've driven the SVR's they attract more attention on road than Mustang if that is your thing, but I have never ever seen an F-Type SVR on the road, just the Range Rover, so they are rare but so they should be as Jag have sold less than 200 in the UK market since 2016 and only about 30 of them were the full specified electric blue, carbon pack, fixed spoiler editions. So they are rare, very rare!

Driving it reminds me a lot of my Saleen S197 which was so special to me and that is huge kudos for the Jag from me and at least I am supporting the British industry.
