I've never been a fan of a sunroof. I have one on my Fusion, but it never gets used. Don't really get the purpose of a hole in the roof.

I would imagine less than 1% ever drive their cars to the limit in which a sunroof would hinder performance...That 1% could choose not to have a sunroof.

We all make sacrifices for performances with our daily drivers.

long been a beef of mine, and one of the reasons in 2010 we bought a used 2008 GT/CS Convertible and not a coupe. I need light plus fresh air as needed. I can't stand even being a passenger in a vehicle without a sunroof. Last vehicle I owned was > 20 yrs ago without a sunroof

Robs you of valuable helmet room which we might just need on these cars, given that new roof line.

If you want a sunroof, you could always buy a Fusion, the new 2015 Mustang and the Fusion look pretty much the same,at least from the front end.

I recall the S550 has about 20mm increased headroom over the S197. Both the roof and seating position have been lowered. I'll look for the official spec.

I agree however on the reduction of headroom when installing a sunroof. When people say buy the car without it, one must consider the possibility of changes to the roofline in the design phase that might alter the shape for every model whether the sunroof option was selected or not.

Wow that's interesting. Visually you wouldn't suspect that at all.

Everyone who says sunroofs suck because it gives you less headroom, guess what? Don't check the option for the sunroof! You get to save all your precious weight and glorious headroom.

The problem is why doesn't Ford give us the option to CHOOSE what we want?? I'm 6'4" and I would like a sunroof.

Cost. It costs much more to insert that option into your production stream. I imagine Ford had a debate about it and came to the conclusion that no serious performance car has a sunroof. And left it at that, despite a potential subset of customers wanting it as an option.

The bean counters couldn't make it work. Let's be honest there are plenty of serious sports cars that have sun roofs, however...

Ferrari 360 Modena
Porsche 911
Lotus Esprit
Multiple AMGs
BMW M3/M4
Camaro zl1
Mitsubishi Evo

Basically every serious 4 seat sports car has a sunroof option aside from the track day specials.... except for the mustang. Poster above listed the most common. Glass roof was a great compromise but you do have a point that as far as we know now they apparently didn't feel the engineering investment was worth it.
