Poor, poor, poor outward visibility and the tacked on Center High Mounted Stop Lamp on the trunk. Always looks like an afterthought. I prefer the integrated look of the CHMSL on the Mustang fastback. Much cleaner looking.

Couldnt see anything out of it and its rear seat was even more useless than the mustangs.

Always was a fan of the Camaro since being a little kid. I still wish to have a restomod 1st gen one day. But I spent no more than 2min in a 6th gen and knew the lack of visibility was a deal breaker.

I owned a stock '97 SS for a few hours many many years ago. On the third start up it was dead. Bought it from a friend who agreed to tear up the check and take it back. Turned out a ground point failed. I picked up a low milage RSX Type S the next day. No regrets.

Sorry if this is the wrong place, but I've been drinking a bit of the holiday spirit tonight...

The DC5 chassis and K20A2 were tons of fun back 15 years ago. That engine woke up so much with the basic boltons. Didn't even need a tune right away. But K-Pro was a godsend.

2600lbs curb weight. Over 8kRPM stock rev limit. Over 100HP per liter. One of the highest hp/liter engines of the time.

I built mine up with chassis stiffening, suspension (Tanabe Sustec Pro Coilovers with the TEAS module) and sticky tires. Bolts ons and ECU fun. It was prepared and ready for a Full Race turbo kit, before being stolen from the driveway never to be seen again.

The Mustang brings back that high reving engine experience. And I like it a lot.

One of my buddy's dad does short haul industrial trucking. He can no lift, no clutch any road car smooth as butter. He drives with the clutch through the gears a few times to get a feel for the trans, then just stops using the clutch. If I hadn't seen it myself, I wouldn't believe it.
Thats pretty awesome. Yeah the new ss 1le has no lift shift built in above 5k rpm, just push in the clutch and shift away.

Especially with no lift shift on the manual

I would have bought an S2K years ago and that would have been my life long car love. But I'm living with a 6'5" 300ish body. I just can't fit in one. Still makes me sad when I see a cleanly modded one roaming around.

I've personally had multiple mirrors broken by asshole drivers in NY
now without a visual reference they'll just side-swipe your car and the $300 repair is $3000 and takes 4 days. At least the paint will be thicker and better than factory after the repair. Panel gap too maybe.

Well boys... I made my decision. I went out and looked at both yesterday and today. 4 different dealers, 2 ford and 2 Chevy. And I think it’s going to be a 2021 Camaro 1SS 1LE in orange with the now available A10 auto. It’s going to be a factory order. I’m getting only the 1LE option as well as the A10. Like said above you are only missing the heated/vented seats and the wireless charging.
It’s really about the fact that this will be a pure pleasure only driver for me. I’m in Florida and I work from home. The only miles it will see are for hot rodding around the Tampa/Clearwater/st Pete area on evenings and weekends.
Maybe i will see you around sometime. I am in Pasco on the gulf. I had to lemon law a new 2019 C7 and ended up with a 2021 LT1. Runs 10 times better than that C7 did. Almost runs as good as my modded 2013 C6 did.

Daily drivability is much better and the Coyote is just a better engine to go fast with, especially the Gen 3.

I'm obviously not gonna say anything different than what's already been said through 18 pages, but looks for me. And I think I'm a Ford guy at heart.

The 1le package on the ss makes it even better and more of a difference against the mustang vs the regular ss. The seats..shifter..steering wheel..HUD..and appearance of the 1le are great. Just have to decide on personal prefefence and what is worth it.

42k for a 1ss 1le is pretty hard to beat though tbh.
My Bimmer has a HUD and, holy cow, just so darn convenient and probably my favorite tech feature in it. Also has auto-hold, which I miss desperately when I'm in the Mustang.

Ditto the comments on not being able to see out of the Camaro. It's not a joke. It really is like peering out of a tank gun slit.

We rented a Camaro for 2 weeks on a vacation. I felt scared to drive the car. Visibility on any point other than dead straight ahead was non-existent. It was especially nerve-wracking pulling out at intersections.

The 'chop top' design also makes for a head-banging experience getting in or out. I'm 6'0" so the noggin-whacking might not be totally surprising. But my wife is just 5'2", and even she smacked her head almost every time getting into the car.

Those poor ergonomics made it a complete non-starter for me. I just didn't find it to be a car that I felt safe driving in the real-world.

Visibility is a purely personal thing. Lots of Camaro owners seem to be happy with it. YMMV, but take a long test drive, preferably a few long test drives, in city conditions and see how it feels.

When I got my '08, there was no such thing as a new-on-the-showroom-floor Camaro to alternatively choose.

Even if the 5th gen Camaro had come out before the 2008 model year either, I doubt I'd have chosen it over the Mustang. For starters, it was just a little too big (112" wheelbase) and too heavy. And it looked the part, a little too thick-bodied if that makes any sense. I was still autocrossing on a regional basis at the time, and long-time Camaro autocrosser Sam Strano had jumped over to the Mustang right around the time I started thinking about getting a car that I didn't feel had to pull duty as a family car for three or more full-size adults. So the Mustang came with decent - at least for its time - handling credibility, and had solid upgrade potential. That was enough for me.
