Quick story from my car selling days:

My sales manager ordered a Competition Package E46 M3 with the 19" wheel "upgrade". But, those actually replaced the really slick looking competition wheels with the regular 19" wheels almost every E46 M3 had instead of the base 18" rims.

Why? Because they were $4K wheels and most sales managers don't know crap about cars so on anything relatively limited they will often just check all the boxes to order the most expensive car they can assuming it will sell regardless.

I think we had to discount that car over $8K to actually sell it...

I agree it's great. I ran an autox this last weekend and had absolutely no problems with sliding around in my seat. The seats are very comfortable and the heating and cooling features make the car a lot more enjoyable to drive on cold days and long trips. I'm sure when it finally gets warm around here I will be using the cooling feature more.
I completely agree. I didn't get the opportunity to try the Recaros but I have run 2 autocross events in my Tech Pack car and the seats have been superb.

Just came back from a Pocono Raceway HPDE day with my tech pack. I had to hold myself a little around the really tight turns compared with the track pack I drove at GT350 Track Attack where I didn't have to put in any effort to hold myself. With that said the tech pack seats do hold me in better than I expected.

EDIT: oops, ah, I forgot the Track Attack cars have a four point harness

Yes, it all comes down to keeping you pressed back in the seat and that comes down to the restraint, not the seat. You need to move the seat all the way back, lock your seat belt and move it forward into position to keep you planted. Unless you have a harness in the Recaros, you'd have to do the same thing.

Plus it's alot easier and cheaper to add the coolers later than all of the comfort. I said it in another thread, I love the way the Recaros look and wanted them so bad but after a test drive I had to change my order, I just did not find them comfortable and I'm not the only one, Had they been a smidge wider at the waist, the bolsters not quite so high and softer I would have kept them. The stock seats in the Mustang and Gt350 are so good that I just wasn't willing to make any sacrifices for the additional support of the Recaros. Were this not my DD and if I was 20lbs lighter it would have been a different story.
I'm trying to understand how adding transmission/differential/oil cooling would be easier than adding navigation.

I just got back from a 13 hr drive (each way), straight through, to visit George at MGW along with installing his new GT350 shifter. The Recaro seats were rather uncomfortable after 6 or 7 hours and pure torture by the end of the drive. And while Google Maps' navigation worked flawlessly on my phone I would have appreciated a much larger viewing screen such as that of the Tech Pack. Not sure if I could give up the coolers though as I was absolutely hauling ass through a number of states, some with steep grade changes that went on for miles and miles. Aside from butt/lower back pain the car was absolutely perfect.

Never owned Recaros but surprised to hear they were uncomfortable on long distance trip. Thought they were designed for great support and not just on the track. Others have stated they were fine for distance. Do you fit in them well? Underlying back issues?

I had Recaro's in my GT500 and they were far more forgiving. I'll be honest - I recognize that the GT500 was more of a couch on wheels with a monster torque engine and that the GT350 is a leaner, tauter corner carver, hence the tighter fitting Recaro's. They are a performance seat that fits the bill perfectly.

At 6' 215 lbs, the seats hug "just right." If you had to sit in a chair for over 12 hours would you want a stiff and unforgiving seat or something a little more plush? The Recaro seats work well for me for the most part though. Just not lengthy drives.

Probably the heated and cooled seats in the Tech Pack would have helped your long trip. I am finding that with a black interior, I am relying on them more and more.
