If a 10 second full weight car is what you're after, better get the Whipple.

This is completely false. Tvs will put you in the 10's in full weight car easy. 9 lbs, tune, through the cats on drag radials, 620 hp, 10.6x. A car I put it on for him and vmp tuned it.

There is probably a dozen 10 second tvs'd cars in my area. All of them basic mods (I think most are still through factory cats even). The only ones not in the 10 either still have the early roush pulley/tune combo or won't put sticky tires on it.

Keep in mind we've been doing the timing cover modification since 2011 with no issues. It's not nearly as bad as some people make it out to be.
[/quote] Yep. I've done 3 now. V...hat was advertised when the 11 kits came out.

No one said a TVS couldn't get him there. He was asking about two different kits. I don't think the Roush, which claims 627hp at the crank, will get him there as easily as the Whipple, which claims 650hp at the wheels.

Tons of ways to get a car into the 10s. But a kit straight out of the box, between the two, Whipple is the smarter choice.

There is zero grinding with the whipple kit. Also the k brace doesn't have to be cut with the whipple.

I went with the whipple and the results will be posted soon. I didn't get the upgrades TB, I'll be using the stock TB for now.

Yep. I've done 3 now. Very easy to do. And none of it interferes with any structural stuff. The plus side is it loves the FEAD closer to the motor, keeping the belt on pulley closest to the front main seal, putting less stress on the crank snout. At least that's what was advertised when the 11 kits came out.

Definitely not a big deal, plus most guys are looking to do the warranty which would require and ASE certified tech does the install so the simple clearance is no biggie.

I think grinding the block is a big deal. Some people want to go back to stock when they sell the car and sell the supercharger separately.

On the install side, a lot of people don't have a grinder or the skill to do the block in their garage. I understand the hesitation, the block is a VERY expensive part to replace if done wrong. The weekend warrior will go more for Whipple because of the ease of install.

None of this effects returning to stock. Ground mine already. Piece of cake!

Aren't the three standoffs that need to be grounded down threaded attachment points for something? How are you reattaching (reverting back to stock) without those now missing threaded standoffs?

No. They are just there. No threads in them. Doesn't affect the ability to go back to stock.

And they are NOT on the block. They are on the timing cover.

Seriously, there's nothing to it and it affects nothing mechanically.

Honeslty, the grinding is a big deal. Increased install time for less power compared to the whipple. Not only do you have to grind the block/timing cover but you have to cut up the k brace. For the Roush kit to make as much power as the Whipple you will spend more than the cost of the Whipple kit when you factor in the install cost. I could have gotten the Roush kit for $500 less but I will be making 100rwhp more. Also, in regards to warranty. The best warranty with any modification is a good tune. I personly don't care about warranty. If it breaks then it didn't belong on my car.

Isn't there a spot on the block under where the SC sets that you have to grind???

Honestly not a big deal. I could give 2 shits about the k-brace. Mine doesn't have one.

Evo8904 Who is custom tuning the Whipple?? Did you go with your custom meth kit??

Using the stock TB on the big blower will kill power. You will have a ton of tuning to re-do when you upgrade to the bigger TB.
