All else being equal, which
has a smoother ride,
2021 pp1 with magnaride in
normal drive mode or a 2021 base suspension GT, both with
19” tires?

"Smoother ride" is entirely subjective. Get out and drive both yourself, we can't decide that for you.

If I had access to both, I would have done so.
That's your only way.

And FWIW, since tires and over-all suspension health/condition play a massive part in what you feel behind the wheel, it's gonna have to be reasonably new cars with similar tires.

It would be helpful if you explained what it is you're trying to accomplish.

I’m looking at picking up a low miles used car. I had access to a low mile ‘21 PP1 magnaride and found that the ride was
good on the local roads . It filtered out
the smaller imperfections well and overall, I found it was a comfortable ride. It has the stock Pirellis.

It was considerably smoother than
the cars I’ve driven in the past with the
base suspension and the optional 20’s.

I’m trying to determine if the base suspension car , with 19’s, is going to
be comparable or rougher riding than
the magnaride car.

If I had access to a base suspension car, that would have solved my dilemma.

19's or 20's, theres no way you can compare a base suspension car with a magnaride car. The magnaride will be superior for ride quality. There is no "Cake and eat it too" with suspension. If you want it to handle like a race car, buy a racecar suspension. If you want it to be as forgiving as possible but still have the ability to stiffen up and improve handling, go with the magnaride. The base suspension on these cars leaves alot to be desired

Dude, you've got to communicate better. You have to be extremely clear so we can help you. What do you mean by "base" suspension? PP1 without Magneride? Or the non-PP1 suspension?

To start with, there is no "base suspension car" that comes with 19" wheels. It's either 18s or 20s. 19s are (pretty much) only on PP1 cars. And 20" wheels & tires always have shit ride quality.

You're making mental (emotional, really) mountains out of molehills here. You're over-thinking this. You've driven the magneride car, and liked it. So just get it. Then you have the adjustability when you want it.

Ride quality is about 2 things; tires, and damping. If you get the Magneride car, you have adjustable damping. And then it's up to what tires you chose to put on the car. The OEM Pirelli tires are absolute garbage. Almost any other tires will make the car even better.

Base suspension = non pp GT
19’s are a factory option on these cars.

Go for a MagneRide one. I have MagneRide and PP1 and love it.

Tire pressure will play a role too so for a fair comparison, you'd have to ensure both cars were at their recommended PSI.

Having said that, you can lower the psi a couple to get a slightly softer ride, all else being equal.

Regardless of suspension, the smaller wheels will always mean a better ride; more sidewall height. I had 18" wheels on my Mustang GT. It rode better than my BMW with 20" wheels, despite the BMW having adjustable suspension.

All else being equal, the Magneride in normal mode is a bit more comfortable than the standard, non-adjustable suspension. I find the Magneride in normal mode as comfortable as one could reasonably expect from a modern car.
In sport mode, at speed, on a good road, it's pure bliss.

My cousin owns an '18 gt premium standard suspension, standard 50 series tires, I own a '19 gt premium PP1 with magnaride, with the HP 40 series tires. We have driven each other's cars many times and agree that With out a doubt my magnaride in standard mode {comfort} is a way better handling and comfortable ride, the maganride is the way to go as far as I am concerned, when with the wife it is always in the comfort setting for her , then when without her I firm it up for a really very good handling up-grade.

I don't think anything is smoother over normal roads than a magnaride car.

The springs on a PP car are only marginally stiffer than a base car, so that's not a problem.
