I am finally going to start upgrading my GT Premium and the first thing is a strut tower brace
I have been looking at the Ford Racing brace mainly because it has the brace that goes to the cowl
Does anyone have this setup? and how do you like it
Also How does it stack up compared to the Steeda brace I know the Steeda is lighter but it doesnt have the cowl brace
Thanks in advance

The k brace is a must. Strut braces are pretty much useless without that. I bought the Ford racing brace and love it. OEM look and quality and I much prefer the black over the silver.

You can always buy the k brace separately and install whatever strut brace you want, just make sure they're compatible. IIRC the steeda brace isn't compatible with the k brace installed but I'm sure David from Steeda can chime in. The steeda brace is lighter, like you said, and is easier to remove the dipstick when compared to the Ford.

This is the second time I've seen this comment on here & it's a crock of shit.

They may be improved slightly with the K brace but a strut brace on it's own is most definitely not useless.

Maybe I exaggerated but triangulation is what makes the strut tower and k brace most effective. If you going to do one you might as well do the other.

No arguments about triangulation. :)

Although how much is required on a road car is debatable.

The Ford works rally team back in the seventies used to remove the strut brace for gravel events as it made the car too stiff. Obviously they had full cages installed as well but if the removal of that single strut brace made that kind of a difference, you have to wonder if anything more is truly needed on a road car.

:)

Is the California Special brace the triangular one? The brace is one of the reasons I ordered the California Special.

Brace takes 15 minutes to add - why would that be a reason deciding on model choice ?

It came with the brace, the seats I like, 19" wheels, PP splitter, and grill I liked, so, it was a combination of things.

The "triangle" is made up of the combination of K brace and strut brace I think. Does the CS have a K brace? I have not even looked at the CS package, now i wonder if it has many of the pp stuff but with automatic option.

I just looked at the cs package and it does not have the k brace. Seems to be an appearance only package.

Sorry for my ignorance. Ford says that the California Special gets a unique strut tower brace with the GT/CS logo". Are you saying that it is not functional?

Thanks!

I am learning as well. The guys talking about strut tower and k brace working together has me talking out loud. The strut brace takes the k to the next tier of stiffness I guess.
