wow. usually ohio gas is cheaper than gas here but sams was $2.76 for 93 yesterday.
Zero sympathy. We pay the equivalent of $6.91 per US gallon for shell v power.

Wow! A rough calculation assuming 15 mpg means fuel is costing about $10/mile.
And to think I used to bitch because the boat was burning 6 gallons/hour (about $25/hour back then).

I'm sure you do!

My brother in law used to build and race (he drove his own) dragsters. He had a good paying job and repaired cars on the side to support it. Expensive as anything but a ton of fun!

I've always known fun can be expensive but knowing never stopped me from complaining...

I'd be really curious what the valves look like on an engine that ran regular vs one that ran premium.

I'd bet $$ the regular run car has more carbon build up on the valves than one which ran premium.

I pulled the plenum off my 08 FX35 with 240000km for some maintenance and the valves looked spotless. Only ever run premium in it.

its 2.85 at Costco, 2.95 Sams club today, and 3.40 and 3.60 at shells for 93. pretty large savings on a full tank.
If you have a Costco Visa card, it's another 4% off, so a $3 gallon of motion-lotion is only $2.88.

I have a Sam's Club membership so 93 is usually the same price as 87 from a normal gas station. I might put 10$ in of 89 if im far away and just want to top it off

don't know about that, it should burn all the same, it just adds timing, so in theory a 87 car, and 93 car, should both have the same carbon build up at 100k miles, the variance I think more so is top tier vs cheaper fuel.

top tier has 2x detergents than minimum requirement.

but those 87 vs 93, the 87 would be weaker the entire time

I have a 91 octane tune, and running 93 octane top tier gas (Shell, Chevron, Exxon, etc). I like having margin. I run top tier gas my 2 other cars, but usually only 87 or 89 octane. My wife pumps her own gas in her CX-5. I think she uses the 93 octane a lot because she likes the "zoom zoom".
