I used a MS8 as well in a focus ST and liked it, especially the self tuning features.

Is there any self tuning capabilities in the RF offering?

Please help a newbie out who is looking for options to upgrade his base stereo -- what is a DSP?

No auto tuning with the DSR1, but the app makes it very easy to the tweak the settings to your liking. I use REW and have a mic for my home audio gear so I will be using it in my car to measure and then adjust DSR1. Just with manual adjustments and a tape measure to set time alignment it’s made such a huge difference. I playing with the different profiles now so I can adjust them on the fly to my liking and also based on how many people are in the car.

OK, now I know that DSP stands for Digital Signal Processor.

Could someone please be so kind as to provide a brief explanation of its purpose and how it is used?

Thank you!

I think I have given up trying to make this car sound good with the factory amplifier. Going to an active DSP quality 2-way system with Hertz Mille Pro's. Removing the midrange from the equation as it overly complicates, has little benefit, and adds unnecessary expense in order to use. Mounting the tweeters where the midrange drivers were and I will disconnect the A pillar tweeters. Going to use a 5 channel amp with the 5th channel to drive a sub box or pair of subs mounted on the rear deck.

Any opinions on the JL Audio TwK88 DSP? I was looking at the Rockford DSR1 but there were enough negative reviews to scare me away from that one.
Only negative I see about the TwK is I will need a PAC TR4 adapter to get the +12V remote on from the 6V factory turn-on.

Are there any concerns with chimes, voice navigation, etc, going through a DSP? With the factory amp out of the system will the prompt volume still work independent of the audio volume? Does the factory amp do any funny muting or volume control of these functions?

You can download and play with the TwK88 software. It seems straightforward. Zero issues with anything (chimes, voice nav, mobile phone, etc) using a DSR1. The GT350 does not have any type of backup sensors/chimes but I’m really happy with everything. I seemed to have gotten lucky with my DSR1 and T harness. Zero issues and it tucked back perfectly where the stock amp was. Some of the negative reviews did concern me. Sony also makes an integrated AMP/DSP but I could not find much info. Audio Control is another option.

Did you ever complete this front stage setup? I’m thinking about doing the same thing. Thanks

For the 9 speaker system you need the iDatalink HRN-AR-FO3 Harness
Does anyone know if this harness will work with the 12-speaker system (with factory sub)?

I asked Hextall about making a harness and he said Molex does not sell the female plug for one of the three connectors and he’s trying to source it from a different supplier. But it seems like this harness has all of the appropriate connectors?

Edit: The AR-FO2 harness does work with the 12-speaker system, at least with 2019 Mustangs.
Check iDatalink’s website and/or call them to make sure.

Still working on it. I am waiting for parts to show up. Covid is stalling my orders. Plus I am working and commuting. Leaves little time to work on the car. I will definitely post more info when I get rolling.
