It's just really annoying because others who ordered after me have had their cars built already. An extra 2 days could mean the difference between making or missing a boat. I was constantly checking the VIN all day Thursday expecting to see it built...

You must have been offered a canceled order to get that quick.Some people are just lucky.

Depends on the dealer i think,not Ford.
I don't think dealers talk to each other about there canceled orders . I agree a very unfair system, they should go in some sort of pool or something.Maybe to the earliest order not fulfilled in that particular colour.The way Ford are selling Mustangs in Australia is Fucked there's no logic to it.Should be first come first served no matter what!

Ordered 18th February 2016, NSC 7th July, VIN received 18th September.

I had a long chat to my dealer and he said they are on a first come first served basis at the moment but next year they go on a quota system eg a dealer gets a quota and once used can't sell any more. Sounds just crazy. The extra cars from Japan were mostly EB's so that can explain how EB customers have jumped the queue

My dealer told me the same thing,so far they've sold over 100 cars .But next year their allocation is capped at only 28 cars .He said that waits will then be back at 18 months.. I think long waiting times may keep used prices up too?
