Are you referring to the rim lip and tire sidewall? Is the tire know for running narrow? 305 should be fine on a 10” wheel.

The link above is to a general fitment guide.

For the tire you're using now, it is showing an 11" is preferred. This would go towards explaining why the existing tire appears the way it does.

Once the rim and tire and sized correctly, not only should they appear better, they should perform as intended (better than they probably do now).

I’m not 100% sure. I’ve seen other people run this size no problems, it’s Nitto 555r2’s

285 is the ideal tyre size for a 10 inch rim imo , purely a performance opinion , as said above 11inch for a 305 , thats a lot of bulge with a 305 on a 10

Are you sure the wheel is 10" and not 11"? Maybe a packaging error had a wider size labeled as 10? Just theorizing, never heard of that actually happening. Just another theory here, maybe the bead of the tire isn't seated against the inside of the rim lip? Seems unlikely, but strange things can happen.

I have 295/35 on 10" and the sidewall bulge extends past the lip more than yours. In theory, a 305 should should overlap the lip by 5mm more than mine does. As someone else mentioned, maybe that batch of Nitto's is running very narrow for the size.

Don't worry too much about "ideal" tire to wheel width size recommendations, they are just that - recommendations. As long as you're within the specified width range from the tire manufacturer for that tire size, it'll be fine. A little sidewall bulge on a street car is not a problem, and can actually be a good thing. I have 255's on 9" wheels on the front of my car and have the same kind of rim poke as in your pic. Both front wheels have some curb rash due to unfortunate occurrences and not enough sidewall bulge to protect them.

Your tire bulges out well past the lip of the wheel. What you're seeing there is a tire without a rim protector lip and a wheel with an extra thick section near the lip as part of it's design. There's really nothing you can do here other than change tires or wheels.

I’m not worried about the performance size sides of things tbh as I’ve had them on there for a while now with no issues at all, but it’s about time to get replaced so I was worrying about more so looks. What’s the biggest you think I could run? Probably 295? Because I have 285s on the front

Yeah I figured I was thinking of going down to 295

That wheel is going to poke no matter what being a +40 offset Ideally you want +50 or +56 for a 20x10 rear.

If you are referring to the tire being inside the wheel lip that is normal, some tires have lip protection some don't.
