I know some of you guys are fitment experts so I need some help. I am currently on my stock 19x8.5 42.5mm wheels with 20mm spacers on all 4 corners. This makes the rear completely flush, while leaving the front a tad inset, maybe like a 1/4". I know Steeda recommended a 25mm spacer for the front to sit flush, but I kept it the same all around.

Now, I have ordered new wheels, Forgestar D5's to be exact. I got 18x9 with 22mm offset for the front and 18x10 42mm offset for the rear. So I use an offset calculator and it tells me that the rear is gonna be almost the exact same as my setup now, while the front will sit an extra 6mm further out than my current setup. I know there are companies that make 10" front wheels that sit the exact same as these, for instance the project6gr wheels. My question is this, am I going to have just a slight poke in the front? I am going to be running 255/45/18 front tires with 315/40/18 rears.

You’ll definitely have a bit poke out in the front but I wouldn’t run a 315 on a 10” wide rim. It asks for a minimum of a 10.5” wide rim. You won’t be able to use the whole tire.

If your front wheel is 1/4” inset, then your new wheel should be about perfect.

ya if you wanted to run a 315 rear tire, it really would have been better to buy an 11” or 11.5” rear wheel. May still fit but next time figure out what size tire you want to run first, then buy the right wheel to run it.

Its bass ackwards to buy wheels then squeeze tires on them that are as wide as possible. Tires don’t like it, handling gets squirmy, and you don’t get the full width contact patch you may have expected. 10” wheel is a good fit for a 285 tire.

Ok, so DT is going to let me send the 315s back and order 2 new tires. I am thinking about a 295/45/18. I want a beefy look to the rear without buying drag radials. I know they are a touch over 28" tall, but those should work, right? This car will not be on a track or anything like that, I simply want the look. I had this exact same tire set up on a lowered S197 back in 2006 and I am trying to emulate that look. The D5s even look very similar to the wheels I had on it.

if you mean the G2 (not their 'drag' tires) there are VASTLY better tires than that out there for same money... Rear traction of the 555 is abysmal. Front for whatever reason (engine weight?) isn't quite so horrible.

Friends don't let friends buy Nitto 555 family of tires. :)

I am sure there are, I simply have always run the 555s whether the first version or the G2. I am not expecting them to hook like a drag radial or perform any better than others.

They definitely won't perform better than many others. Fronts, they are good. For the money, Firehawks, Continentals, etc.

Traction a side G2’s look best when it comes to filling the wheel well. I switched to PSS and just hate the look. 305/35/19 less than 500 miles and I will be going back to the G2’s

That is actually an easy fix :). :thumbsup:Thicker sidewalls, lowering components, etc. I want/need traction. Of course, to each their own. On the other hand, the Michelins tend to run a bit wider.

do yourself a favor and try another tire. You deserve it!

555G2 suck, but the wheel companies must get a great markup on them. Don’t get suckered!
