So i replaced my passenger side wheel bearing on my 2015 mustang. I used a torque wrench and really had to work at making the thing click at 251 foot lbs. I hope i didnt over torque the thing. Its an old wrench and dont know if its calibrated.

I have put about 75 miles highway at speeds of 80 mph and some town driving on the car since i did the bearings. Everything seems normal. Would i have known by now if i messed up.

You will def have to work to get to 251 ftlb so that’s a good sign.

From what I remember from changing mine, it’s something like 100lbs and then 1/8 or 1/4 turn.... where did you got this specs?

That's the rear hub spec. Front one for 2015 in the manual is exactly 251l b/ft. I remember it since I've replaced front hub on my 2015.

You‘ll need to check them periodically regardless. It’s “a thing”. My mechanic checked with Ford Racing, they also advised checking between sessions at the track. It took me 2 rear bearings to figure it out. I’m a slow learner. 🤪
At a minimum, occasionally look for wheel “play”.

FWIW, there are a number of you tube videos showing how to check torque wrench calibration and how to adjust if needed.
Probably not as accurate as having it professionally calibrated but it could tell you if it is way off.

2018 Manual also has 251 lb/ft torque (except for Magneride which has different knuckle / hub and does not have center nut). Relative effort also obviously depends on how long your torque wrench is, although one that is capable of 250 ft-lb has to be relatively long.

FWIW I torqued mine back then with Tekton torque wrench which I am sure isn't exactly a precision instrument.

I did my driver side last year. I used a torque wrench from the Autozone loan program. For weeks I just kept my hands firmly on the wheel and did my best to feel the road. Foot off gas, feel. Accelerate, see how it feels.

There is a bitch to remove cap on these wheels. Check it periodically??? Ridiculous.

But you are right about checking for play.

What size bolt is the rear wheel axle nut? 32 or 34mm?

Pretty certain it is 32mm - I took both rear knucles off recently. When I go out later to the garage (have few spare nuts left), will confirm. Front one is 36 mm.
