Okay I'm clueless. I only use 93 octane fuel and thought I was feeding this beast just what it wanted but I've been reading and keep finding people recommending doing an E-85 convert. Why does this help performance over using 93 octane? And what all would have to be done, i.e. tune, injectors and anything else? And won't this void the warranty?

Ethanol (E85 is 85% ethanol) has a huge octane rating and vaporizes far easier than gasoline. This gives a cooler intake charge with a much lower chance of knocking after changes in spark advance and so on. You can change the ECU to take advantage of it (even more so in a forced induction engine).

Downsides come from ethanol having a lower energy density than gasoline, giving worse MPG in normal driving and requiring much higher fuel flow rates in high power applications.

E85 is typically 105 - 110 octane. A tune is definitely needed. Depending on what other mods you may do, higher capacity injectors may be needed. It will definitely void your warranty. E85 makes a lot of difference with forced induction.

Okay then didn't know the octane rating was so much higher that explains very much. Not worth voiding the warranty to me but in a couple of years who knows. Much thanks everyone. I'm pretty happy with the humpf it's got now.

If your want to keep your warranty and not tune, i understand that for sure. But an e85 tune for this car is the best bang for the buck mod hands down. I've had mine on since 4500 miles. I now have 50,000 on my 18 and everything has been great. So much of a difference in down low/mid range power the car feels like a turd when i switched back to 93 for my inspection.

Where I live we don’t have 93 but 91 non ethanol. If you get a flex tune can you use 91 non ethanol or does it have to be 93 when switching from e85

Put no lead VP110 (110 octane) in your tank and let the stock computer do what it does. No voiding of warranty.
