What's so Special about a California???????

I guess this is the California Special thread.


Daydreaming about different things and thought about popular colors for the California Special.

Mine is Black. I know black was popular for all Mustangs in 2019. But seems I see a lot of White California Specials. I really rarely see silver, blue or red ones which I think is strange.

I don't think the floor at will make it go faster, sure will make it quietest.

Again the California Special is not a performance model. Buy a PP1 or 2 if that's what you want.

They’re all performance models. It’s a GT. Just compare a 2019 C/S vs. a 2013 Boss 302. The C/S will win probably on all parameters. It just happens to do so while looking good.

The only benefit I can see in the package is BLIS...............

The Mustang option packages that include interior upgrades improve the visual and tactile experience every single time that you enter and occupy the vehicle. That may not be worth the price of admission for you but as you can see on this thread, for many of us it was money very well spent.

Also, the wrapped knee bolsters provide additional padding that reduces driver fatigue and therefore improves lap times over long track sessions.

Well Damn! Just my luck I replaced mine. And here I thought it felt slower because I have a manual.

Not 'till '18. And they are not anything unique to California Specials. Many non CSs have them.

You can find them used for a sensible price if you're patient. That's what I did since my '16 Premier interior option did not include those, just the doors, dash, etc. were soft touch with real stitching before '18

Like a few parts, they happen to be ones that are ludicrously priced as parts from Ford as in triple or more than the non-wrapped versions, IIRC.

I was being pedantic about the padding and track times but the wrapped knee bolsters really are a nice touch. They are included on the 2018+ 401A package.

I've not seen one here. I was told I had the only Race Red 2020 GT/CS Convertible. I don't know if that is true or not...I bet not.

No if you join the CS facebook group there are a good amount of race red CS'. From what I can tell looking @ some of the members paperwork it looks like they produce each color in pretty similar amounts 2-400 usually and make 2-4000 CS a year, but they haven't released data on anything since 2014.

Just get a 10 speed base model if you want to go fast. Put headers and E85 and roll out.

or get a 6speed manual if you want to feel a connection with the car and shift.

The 10 speed will always win a race mod for mod. Not even close.
I own a Bullitt. Other than the extra 20 hp it’s basically a gt with cool colors.

...when I noticed that this car was scheduled to be built, I was

My build date of Aug 9th moved back to original date of July 26. I chaecked Monday and tracker siad it was in production. Got my window sticker this morning. They must have freed up some stangs during the 2 week shutdown.
