Got the "Introducing...." email from the Detailing Shed yesterday.
It never ends!

Have never, ever, heard of this brand before.

I've known Labocosmetica was on its way to Australia for a little while now, but I had to keep it quiet. Autobuff are the master distributor, with Detailing Shed also stocking it.

Labocosmetica is an Italian brand that is making garnering attention in America, and from those who have used the products, they rave about them. I will say, in a typical Italian way, the brand has some quirks. Think multi-step pH soaps and interior cleaners. The textured bottle and label designs are beautiful, and refreshingly different too............again, very Italian.

I'm not sure when I'll get around to trying these products, the majority appear to be very specific in their use, similar to Bilt Hamber.

@DFB5.0 i did a search here in your thread for cquartz and ceramic but didn't come up with a ton of information or more so specifically your thoughts on it.
I ordered some cquartzUK as they said it's most forgiving to first time ceramic coaters. I used to have a detailing business that did quite well but never did ceramic. Ultimately, i stopped doing it because i couldn't afford to go full time with it.
do you have any opinions on the cquartzUK product? Also any advice for a as first time user? I have read everything on their website and watched their videos a few times. Just wanted to get your opinion/advice.
vehicle is brand new with like 60 miles on it, but i bought 1000ml of Eraser to go with it.

I have not used Cquartz UK, but its a solid choice. Best advice for a first time ceramic user, be sure to work smaller areas to begin with until you get comfortable with the process.

Sandro's review is a few years old now, but its still relevenet. He explains why its a great option for ceramic beginner, and other tips for its use.

This video is more of a general guide to applying a coating. Even though the car is brand new, you will be suprised at how contaminated it will already be, especially if it was transported by rail or left on a dock for an extended period. In other words, you may need an iron remover, clay and polishing in addition to the Eraser....................just depends how deep you want to go. At the very least, use an iron remover then wash with a high-pH soap like Lift, then wipe down with Eraser.



A couple of pointers that would apply to any coating -

- Work small areas until you get the hang of flash times and wipe off technique.

- Grab some microfiber applicators to use instead of the cumbersome block and suede supplied with the coating.

- You will need low-pile towels for leveling/buffing off the residue. I like TRC Edgeless Pearl or Edgeless 30, you will need 3 to 4 per vehicle. Never re-use these towels on paint.

- Don't rest your towels or applicator on an adjacent panel or the glass while you work, you risk leaving a high-spot if not picked up on. In other words, stay organized.

2012 Honda Civic VTI-L Detail

This Honda was recently bought by my boss for his newly licensed son. The young lad is nowhere close to being interested in cars, so his only two requirements for his first car were it had to be white and had to be an automatic. The father on the other hand wanted to spend as little as possible, it taking a while to realise that a clean, roadworthy small first car doesn’t exist at $5000 like it would have when he was a boy.

Upon arrival, the smile on the boy's face said it all!

The young lad in question actually does some weekend work with us at the nursery. I can see a lot of character traits that we share in common; somewhat shy and socially awkward, liking routine and order, very procedural. Also like me, I have seen him become more confident, if still a little unsure of himself. He is dreaming big too, next year he will be off to study medicine. His first car will take him a long way and I'm glad to have been part of that journey.

Apparently, the young lad had his father drive him to school on Tuesday because it was raining and he didn't want to get the car dirty.

So proud!

Was just about to say the same, Fred's garage is insane! I love the lime green he chose, refreshingly different to all the black and grey tones OG usually goes for.

Personally, I would have extended the wash bay to allow a car to fit fully inside a fully enclosed, climate-controlled environment. The dual Kranzle is overboard, a single Aussie-spec KHD-10 wouldn't be that far off the flow of those two lean K1322's.

I would absolutely do a flush fit scissor lift like they went with, but would only have one for floor space versatility and not the three they installed. I could take or leave the killer audio setup. I'm lucky enough to already have Swisstrax flooring, but I think I would add my two favorite colors into the mix here, red and blue. I probably would end up sticking to grey or black cabinets, and would rather have power/air hose reels instead of the manifold arrangement that Fred insisted on.

I would have the loft setup as a lounge/living space. Kitchen and laundry somewhere in the mix too.

Dream are free, so maybe one day I'll make that dream a reality, even if it's not quite as over the top.

No, I really do have a terrible sense of direction. My father on the other hand is brilliant, so is my sister, so I missed out on that gene.

I have also developed a fear of longer distance travel. I'm basically confined to the local district, or any place that I know how to get to. Anywhere else and it's like torture for days leading up to it. Which of course sucks when your hobby centers around cars.

Does this sound familiar?

Although I'm tending to use Waze a lot more in trying to get those demerit points under control!

I have o/s trip #126 coming up in 2 weeks, Chicago IL.

Oh, I know that modern nav systems are great.......................but try telling that to my anxious brain. There is no rhyme or reason why I struggle with this, most likely a combination of various little things over time to the point where my brain does this as a protection mode.

I was actually getting better in this regard, but then Covid hit. Suddenly, being in various states of lockdown and travel restrictions, I fell back into my old ways and literally never left town for over a year. I'm honest in admitting the lockdowns were actually a bit of a savior, it meant staying at home in my comfort zone and a break from "people". Most went batty in lockdown, but I had plenty to occupy my mind. It also gave me a break from people constantly asking me "where are you going on holiday", "when are you going overseas again", "you should be going here there and everywhere". No, I should do what I WANT, not what everyone else tells me what I should be doing with my life.
